Synopsis

Æon Flux is a mysterious and amoral secret agent from the country of Monica. Her motives or background are left unexplained, as are those of her antagonist/love, Trevor Goodchild. On her missions, she deals swift, bloody "justice" to all that oppose her. The second season episodes of this series were unique in that Aeon died at the end of every single episode.

Tetrady not as good as all the hype
filippaberry84 I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
Zlatica One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.
Yazmin Close shines in drama with strong language, adult themes.
Sam Picked up the DVD series at the library, because I heard about it being a 90's cult series. Watched a few episodes, didn't like it, couldn't get myself to watch more of it. I feel this series sacrifices substance for style. Once you get beyond the pseudo-intellectual quotes, the strange futuristic setting and the obvious sexual tension, you are left with an incoherent mess. Perhaps it's just not my thing and I'm being too harsh, but be warned: this is not for everyone.Maybe back in the day Aeon Flux was groundbreaking for what it did. This was made during the pre-mainstream era of MTV, when they were still willing and able to do things outside of the box. I'm all for that, but that doesn't mean the results will automatically be good.
bilgeboybob ***Minimal Spoilers- but spoilers nonetheless***Aeon Flux is definitely a a bit of a head trip, there's no doubt about it. It presents a tried and tested Sci-Fi Scenario - The futuristic "Dystopia and Rebels versus Oppessors" set up - and then proceeds to misbehave gloriously with it. There is no great amount of exposition, no carefully adhered to continuity and some positively trippy imagery. It's definitely not a kids cartoon. There is plenty of philosophical allusion and a lot of wordplay (one particularly self serving character is named "Onan") not to mention a goodly chunk of shameless fetish references. It also presents the marvellous conceit that Aeon herself is having an affair with her own arch enemy, Dr Goodchild. It does not spoon feed the plot to the viewer and as a result, you really have to watch it closely. This is not one to watch while you are doing the ironing! The animation quality is superb, toe-to-toe with with the Japanese produced animation of the time. Like "Sapphire and Steel", "The Prisoner" and "Twin Peaks" Aeon Flux remains a great example of "Something that no-one else was doing at the time". It's a wonderfully deep, quite intelligent - and sometimes downright kinky little series.
dmri_nz The original animated series is definitely worth purchasing, regardless of how you feel about last years big-screen live action remake. Conceptually, this is the most complex show you'll ever see, it is beautifully drawn and offers insights and critiques into the human condition... And despite all this, it's main character dresses like a dominatrix and kicks the crap out of people. Where's the bad here people? Sometimes the lines between spirituality, science-fiction, and sociology are a little confused at times, but the series creator Peter Chung should be utilized a lot more by Hollywood than he is. Also, he should be closely monitored because someone who can invent and execute a show like this can't be playing with a full deck. Just as well, these people seem to make the best entertainment.
mitru Aeon Flux started as video shorts on Liquid Television. The DVD has 4 full length episodes, plus the original shorts. Each is a short story about our super sexy secret agent, and her trials and tribulations. Fun to watch, but I don't recommend purchasing. You can only watch Aeon Flux so many times before you're bored with it, as with most Mtv garbage. The anime was amazing, and the stories were clever. Aeon flux is a good 1 night rental.
