Synopsis

When this year's round of unsuspecting Northerners fail to show up for their annual Guts N' Glory Jamboree, the residents of Pleasant Valley take their cannibalistic carnival on the road and head to Iowa where they encounter spoiled heiresses Rome & Tina Sheraton and the cast and crew of their "Road Rascals" reality show. Performing "The Bloodiest Show on Earth", our Southern Maniacs prove more than ratings killers in what John Landis has called "one of the rare sequels that surpasses the original".

Solidrariol Am I Missing Something?
Aedonerre I gave this film a 9 out of 10, because it was exactly what I expected it to be.
Fairaher The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
Mischa Redfern I didn’t really have many expectations going into the movie (good or bad), but I actually really enjoyed it. I really liked the characters and the banter between them.
FlashCallahan When this year's round of unsuspecting Northerners fail to show up for their annual Guts and Glory Jamboree, the residents of Pleasant Valley take their cannibalistic carnival on the road. They head to Iowa where they encounter heiresses Rome and Tina Sheraton and the cast and crew of their "Road Rascals" reality show. Performing "The Bloodiest Show on Earth", the Southern Maniacs prove more than ratings killers......As many people have stated on their reviews, he first movie was a lot of fun, and was one of the better exploitation remakes, so yes, I was really looking forward to this movie, despite the negativity. The alarm bells started ringing as soon as the cheap text came on screen for the credits, and it went downhill rapidly from there. It's truly one of the worst movies I have seen, its just an excuse for women to get their clothes off and think because of this, they are actors. Get with the plan, its just to tutti late those rascally teens who have got their hands on this. It's ripping off Wrong Turn 2, and the acting is poor, as well as the lack of thrills, or even comedy.Heed the rankings, its a pig of a film, worthless and not worth the ninety minutes it festers for.I hated this movie..
SnakesOnAnAfricanPlain An absolute failure of a film. The first 2001 Maniacs was an enjoyable film. Gruesome, humorous, but most of all fun. It was also a well-made film. This is a completely different story. A hundred steps back from the previous film. Sullivan returns, but his budget and skills do not. The first major problem is that this is shot on digital. It looks absolutely disgusting. Like a home movie. Every shot is flat, lifeless, with a very limited amount of artistic imagery or thought put into it. There's no clever use of lighting or color, just point the camera and shoot. The acting is painful at best. It even has Jar-Jar Binks in it. The original wasn't going to win Oscars, but at least they carried the film through to its conclusion. The replacement cast are mostly Z grade. Only Mosely captures a bit of entertainment. Harper, a supposedly good looking character, is now a hideous guy, and the sheep is no longer a real sheep, it's a stuffed animal. Failing to get Englund back is one thing, failing to get a real sheep...? It's a horrible experience this film so just skip it. Watch 2001 Maniacs, as this film can't even afford a village full of people.
TdSmth5 How to review a movie like this? There was a time when straight-to-video movies were B-movies, that is a notch below A movies, less budget, less fancy locales and effects, fewer A-list cast members. These days a straight-to-video usually means something D-Z quality.I liked the the first 2001 Maniacs and was quite shocked to see that this one is directed by the same guy. What on earth happened from the time of the first to this? Rather than improve and do something bigger and better they went the other way.The good cannibals from Pleasantville are going through hard times. No Yankees stopping by. So they decide to go on the road and take their Southern charm to the north in the form of a circus of sorts. As luck will have it, a filming crew filming a reality show based on two bleached blond young bimbo friends/sisters gets a flat tire on the circus grounds.Rather than just kill the cast and crew the maniacs force them to watch their circus routines before killing them. What follows is an series of embarrassing skits that are nowhere near funny. If you're attempting to do comedy, you need a writer who can pull it off. Politically incorrect jokes shouldn't be too hard to come up with, but the people behind this movie apparently couldn't find a comedy writer. But what ruins this movie from the start is the terrible audio. No ambiance audio is used at all, it's all re-recorded, on cassette tape it seems and without a timer. If you don't have the budget to re-record, don't do it, or wait till you have the money. That deficiency puts the movie immediately in Z-movie territory. The awful script and direction doesn't help a bit. As a director you need to be able to tell the difference between what works on paper or in a comic but doesn't work on film. Here no one bothered to think that through. Not only does the director return from the first part but also plenty of the cast is back. Poor Bill Moseley and Lin Shaye do their best but not even they can save this mess. There are few positives to this movie: lots of gore and lots of pretty topless girls. And that's the only thing worth seeing here. Just because you have a few bucks to make a movie doesn't mean you should do it. More and more the job of a producer is these days to be able to discern when a movie is doable or not. I take it costs have dropped over the years and distributors aren't discriminating in the least. So it falls to the producers to figure out what kind of a movie they would release and whether it wouldn't be better to wait and find more financing first. A shame really. This series deserves better, it's original, politically incorrect, and entertaining, and I look forward to an entry that redeems this one.
Lin Cooper I cannot find one single thing that was good about this movie. I enjoyed the first, and own it. I was looking forward to seeing this one, but this movie fails on every single level. I am not surprised in the least that Robert Englund is not involved in this. Though he has made some stinkers in his career, he had the sense to steer clear of this one. Lin Shaye should have known better, but she must have needed a check. Bill Moseley has never been worse in his life. As for the rest of the bunch...the "acting" is horrible from every person involved. Technically the camera work is amateurish, the sound is everywhere except where it should be, and there appears to be no director or script to be found. I would mention set design, but there is no set. This is literally filmed in a field with some tents. No joking, just tents. I read the film cost about $400,000 to make, but I see nothing that would run over $400. Every single person involved in the making of this should be ashamed.Hands down, one of (if not the) worst movies I have ever seen.
