Pacionsbo Absolutely Fantastic
mraculeated The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.
Roy Hart If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.
Darin One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.
Anthony Rauscher Everytime..Absolutely stunningly beautiful, with a perfect music score, and an incredibly well thought narrative/story/tale. It's an unstoppable watch. I personally don't even know how you could find a more beautiful, and beautifully made love story..Everything about this movie is right on point, and wistfully beautiful - the colors in the distant clouds, and the breeze in the grasses and sugar canes, the sounds of the birds and insects, the glittering reflections of lights in the rain and waters, and the pastel scenery.A great tale of love, friendship, companionship, and happiness - who's great strength, is held together and bonded by delicateness, and fragility - and by it's importance, meaningfulness, thoughtfulness, and sweetness. It can be a touch difficult to follow - specifically because it's narrative based, as opposed to character story based - you're listening to the characters read you a book basically, so you have to pay attention. It doesn't get any better than this - it's like the entirety of FF7 smushed into a beautiful tiny love story..If you need a beautiful place to go, and be, but can't find one - put this movie on, and that's where you'll be :)A reminder that love is more eternal than life, and with eternal love, life continues on in love..That ending though, after the song. You know that's not the end..
MartinHafer I can only assume "5 Centimeters Per Second" was designed explicitly to teens and pre-teens. Therefore, my dislike of the film should be taken with a grain of salt, as I am a 53 year-old guy who likes anime movies, though I don't love ALL anime. For me, the film, though beautiful to look at, was very tough going. The story is about a romance between two classmates, Akari and Takaki. She is a rather simpering and uncertain young lady and she is attracted to Takaki because he's a silent, brooding, poetic sort of guy (the sort of guy most adults would think is incredibly pretentious). However, when he moves away, they promise to remain close and write to each other. Can their perfect, undying love stand the test of time and distance? Or, are they just two teens who need to let go and get on with their lives? The biggest problem with this film is the god-awful dialog. It makes me cringe about that period in my own life...a period I would just as soon forget because I thought everything was so gosh-darned profound and important. Now, with time, I find teens who talk like a dying, misunderstood poet to be annoying and hate that I can remember a bit of that in my teen self! All in all, a gorgeously animated film (better than many of the Ghibli films) but also one that has very, very limited appeal and rather annoying characters. Even though the film has some dubious messages for kids, I'd give this one a 7 for teenage girls, a 1 for adults and a 4 for teenage boys who will most likely want to punch Takaki and tell him to shape up!
Sunny Expected a lot, turned out its just a story of real human persons with whole lot of disappointments..... yeah I know that's life. You are not getting any entertainment from it instead you might recall couple of your disappointments of your life while watching it. In the end the movie left you with nothing expect with sad empty feelings. There is nothing wrong with the movie. Maybe I am the wrong one by thinking movie is a great piece of art to entertain people.... After watching "Kimi no na wa.", I thought "5 cm/s" will also be a great masterpiece. But I was wrong. It left me with an emotional state which is hurtful & its killing me.
Irishchatter Honest to god, I think they should've done up the storyline again because it was so badly done and of course gave the frigging thing episodes, it's meant to be a film! They have completely messed this whole thing up!That's not all.....At the beginning of the movie, I found Akari's voice rather annoying. No wonder Takaki was suppose to move school to get away from her because really I thought of her character voice was suited as a sub character, not a main character. Also I was confused when other girls felt the same way for Takaki, was he a cheater or a womanizer? I think this was a bit over the place. You wouldn't have a clue what's going on!I'm not happy after seeing this film, I give it 1/10 because it didn't appeal to me :/
