It's an amazing and heartbreaking story.

A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."

Blistering performances.

Pretty dry documentary, but probably interesting for history buffs. Color frames are all pretty faded out to blue and white, or black and white, but the sound is actually quite good. Very specific info on which division would be landing where on the island of okinawa. The cameras are set up right along-side the soldiers and the tanks, as they moved in. This one is NOT for the faint of heart -- we DO see people get blasted by gunfire and fall over dead! Some unknown narrator describes the plans of attack on the various areas of the island... and of course they mention that F.D. Roosevelt has died during the days of the attacks on Okinawa. Much discussion of which parts of the island were taken easily, and which ones put up more of a fight. WW II buffs will undoubtedly dig this short film from the Marines. We see several kinds of mines that had been left for intruders. Rounding up of japanese families and soldiers left to try to fight off the invaders. Good summary of the division accomplishments right at the end, with a memorial to the dead. It's pretty good, as military docs go. I caught this one on "moonlight movies" channel.
