The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

With 3 of the best and funniest short films in years and a fantastic feature length movie they where at the top of their game! This did not ruin Wallace and gromit, it just wasn't as good as the other shorts. It's problems aren't that a problem for me apart from Wallace never says cheese in the whole film! The mayor problem for me is the pop culture joke and violence because that's not Wallace and gromit. I don't hate it as some people hate it. It's totally not on par with the other shorts with its cartoon sound affects and the other stuff. A romantic girl for gromit is new and I might not like her as much in here, there could be great possibility's and the very end with their coming together. OK I am really mad at how long that bomb takes to explode, REALLY!!!!! Not the best and probably the least liked but I recommend a watch and see if you like it

while i enjoyed this latest animated Wallace and Gromit feature,a few things disappointed me.the biggest thing,(and i'm sure others have mentioned this)is the running time.both the the artwork on the DVD and the case list it as being 87 minutes.however, the actual running time is around the 30 minute mark.not sure why the discrepancy.the other thing that disappointed me was the lack of humour compared to Wallace and Gromit and the Curse of the Wererabbit.there were some humorous moments, but not as many as i expected, and what humour there was,was much more subtle.although there many amusing moments, there were no real laugh out loud moments here for me,i did however like the story, but because the film was so short,i don't feel they developed it enough.still, overall,it was a pleasant watch.for me,Wallace and Gromit in A Matter of Loaf and Death is a 6/10

I could go on and on why the Wallace and Gromit shorts are some of the best short films ever made. "The Wrong Trousers" and "A Close Shave" are especially excellent, and are just amazingly made. They use the right amount of suspense, with music perfectly placed throughout, and they both have hilarious and original climaxes. This short...eh! It's funny throughout, and has some elements of those other two shorts, but there's very little suspense, mainly because we know very quickly who the antagonist is, what their plan is, and then just a lot of talking. It's good, but not nearly as perfect as the other ones.Wallace and Gromit are apparently now bakers, and at the worst time too as there is an unknown baker killer on the loose. Anyways, while delivering some bread, Wallace happens to save the life of a bread company model, Piella, and they fall in love. She even has a French poodle named Fluffles that Gromit finds attractive. But, Piella is hiding a secret, and Gromit will find out what. This is a very funny short. It has some good jokes and an amusing plot. It's just with the knowledge of the other films (especially the two mentioned earlier), this one is not nearly as good. The other films had emotion, with the scenes where Gromit leaves after being unwanted, and the scene where Gromit goes to prison, but here, there is very little emotion. It's almost like this was a pilot for a Wallace and Gromit TV show. It would be a good pilot for a show, but it's not cinematic so much. It's like a gag filled kiddie show. This sounds pretty negative, but actually this is a very good short. It has a lot of funny gags, an interesting plot, and features an action packed ending, in true with the other films. Kids will love it, adults might be mixed, but no matter, it's meant for the younger group, and will entertain.Nick Park has made another entertaining Wallace and Gromit film, though perhaps he should review the formula, because if he wants to do another one, maybe he can shoot for excellent instead of just good.My rating: *** out of ****. 30 mins. Not rated.

This latest Wallace and Gromit short is sure different in some ways from the first short, A GRAND DAY OUT WITH WALLACE AND GROMIT. The first film used simpler technology--mostly because Nick Park had been working on much of the film on his own before he came to work for Aardman. The characters were clearly made of clay (with fingerprints on them) and the sets were much simpler. In contrast, in A MATTER OF LOAF AND DEATH, the characters look like they were computer generated (I don't think this is true, however) because they were much smoother and they appeared to be using soft poseable plastic dolls. Also, the backgrounds and additional characters are light-years ahead of the first film. All this is to be expected, as the company has grown and learned a lot over the years--as well as picking up several Oscars along the way for their great work. Now this isn't saying that the new film is total perfection. While it is very cute and watchable, it does suffer from two things. Perhaps the earlier films were a bit funnier. In fact, I saw a couple of these older shorts again just a few days ago and I think the humor was a bit brighter and sillier. Another minor problem is that this film reminded me an awful lot of WALLACE AND GROMIT IN A CLOSE SHAVE. Both films featured Wallace falling in love and in both cases, the ladies ended up being very wicked, indeed! In fact, when I first started watching A MATTER OF LOAF AND DEATH, I automatically assumed that lady was the killer--just like the lady in this previous film was the sheep-napper. And, like in the other film, it's up to Gromit to save the day because Wallace is too big a doofus to realize what is happening...which, by the way, reminds me a lot of WALLACE AND GROMIT AND THE CURSE OF THE WERE-RABBIT.So, as you can see, there isn't much new under the sun in this film. However, its handled so well and beautifully that you can still enjoy this rather derivative yet engaging film.UPDATE--2/18/10 I just went to a show of the Oscar-nominated animated shorts. This film was one of the five. However, when compared to the other four films, this was my least favorite as it didn't innovate at all and other Wallace & Gromit films are better. This isn't to say it's a bad film or I hated it--I just can't see it deserving the Oscar. My prediction is that LOGORAMA will win, though my very favorite is the somewhat morbid THE OLD LADY AND THE REAPER. Stay tuned in March to see if I am correct.
