The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
Rosie Searle
It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

"A Russell Peters Christmas Special" is a 44-minute Christmas special from 2011, so it has its 6th anniversary this year. The director is Henry Sarwer-Foner and one of the many writers is Russell Peters, the star of it all too. It is an award-nominated Canadian production that includes some of the country's biggest stars, but also several US-Americans. The two highlights for me were the musical opening that was really funny and the performances by Michael Bublé, who is a welcome addition as always and having him seen live already, I am definitely a great admirer of his singing. However, as good as these moments may have been, the rest of the show including the hosting could hardly have been more forgettable. I did not know Peters before and don't wanna know him now. His "full-of-himself" comedy routine got stale pretty quickly for me and the result is that I found him unlikable. The ways in which he included loved ones did not make it a special occasion dear to the heart as it was intended as. And finally, the core of it all, the comedy, never had me laugh out loud except very early on perhaps. So yeah, the music was decent, everything else gets a thumbs-down. Also always shocking to see such mediocrity if so many writers are working on a project. Don't watch.

Great Christmas special. If people didn't enjoy it then IMO they are way to uptight. The time to feel uncomfortable over small little details that seem to be inappropriate should be over. Its because of this that arguments start, debates occur which sometimes lead into something worse. Why all the hate? It's just a show and Russel Peters is a talented man trying to break the monotonous that every holiday brings. Thanks for the laughter during the holidays, and I say this only because for some people the holidays isn't always cheerful. Many people have hardships around this time of year, but this show allows people to sometimes forget their troubles, and just have a good time.

I think it is a disrespectful show especially Paella Anderson, the playboy star, playing the Version Mary. Also, she was pretending having an affair! Some jokes were nice when Russell Peters started the show, but things went ugly after that! Even last year in the Late Night Show they talked about how bad is the choice of Pamela Anderson to play Virgin Mary. CTV should take out this video and not show it in Christmas time every year because this message is an expression of hating the Christ and the Christianity. It is an anti christen mission more than a comedy.I would suggest cutting out the scene of the birth of Christ so the show would be presentable. Christmas is a celebration of the birth of the Christ the Savior, so if we insult the Christ by celebrating that day it would be like going to someone house celebrate his birthday eat his cake and then insulting him in his house! The rest of the show would not be perfectly orthodox but it will not be insulting.
