Linbeymusol Wonderful character development!
Claysaba Excellent, Without a doubt!!
Roy Hart If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.
Bessie Smyth Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.
filmeuro What a horrendous waste of time. This could have been a half hour Twilight Zone show, but for some reason the writer and director had to drag it out for an hour and a half. Really there were only about five minutes of worthwhile movie time. On top of that all the characters are incredibly irritating and obnoxious. This is one of those movies where you can't wait for them to die. And then the ending is so obvious and moronic it drags the movie down even further. Don't waste your time. Get a colonoscopy instead - - it will be less painful and something good will come of it. Hopefully the writer of this dreck finds useful employment as a garbage collector instead of creating garbage like this. Terrible, just terrible.
suite92 The initial tableau: The film opens to a short vignette about the doomed flight of a light airplane. Then we jump shift to the present. Five twenty-somethings gather to fly to a concert. Sara is the pilot; Bruce sits in front next to her. Mel films with her hand-held in the back, next to the jock/thug Sal, who steals Bruce's comic book. Cory is also in the back as the fifth wheel. Sara is a bit light on experience, but things seem to be going well.Delineation of conflicts: Rough weather comes up, and Sara is not rated for instrument flying. Two other problems arise: their total weight is too high to get above the clouds, and Sara forgot to assure that the fuel tanks were full before leaving. There is a screw loose, which means an elevator fin does not respond to control. Bruce's childhood trauma about flying surfaces; this involves Sara in a strong way. Those are not the only problems; the film is qualified as a horror film for some solid reasons. They are not alone in the storm, or are they?Cinematography: 7/10 Consistently saturated with teal, even during the long dark sections of the film. The point of this not clear. Framing and focus were usually fine.Sound: 9/10 I had no problems hearing dialog, and the background music was a plus.Acting: 5/10 Better than I expected.Screenplay: 4/10 There's a good 15 minutes of story here. Hijacking the end story of Forbidden Planet (1956) was discouraging, though. The plus four was for the ending, which I rather liked.
hjbuhrkall Without going too much into detail with the actual story, the movie starts with a group of teenagers going on a weekend trip in a private plane. A (not very subtle) side story explains how two of the teens both lost one or more of their parents at a young age. A somewhat decent start. But… for the following 40 minutes everything that happens can pretty much be summarized in a few choice words: mysterious dark clouds… failing instruments… random and pointless fighting and screaming… Then the next 20 minutes can be summarized by: Evil tentacle cloud squid… Hysterical Teens fighting… And even more screaming… Then we get 10 minutes of the movie Inception (as it turns out that all the events are just the result of one of the characters imagination/nightmares). And as soon as the nightmare is over, and the cloud clears, the surviving teens nearly miss hitting another plane (which as it turns out is them-selves and parents from another reality)The movie ends by none of the parents ever dying in the first place, and hence this movie never happening.Just to be clear, I have nothing against the plot itself, it think it could be a great short-film. (20-30min) But I do have a problem with a very thin story being told over a period of 90 minutes, combined with somewhat terrible acting and even worse CGI, and then all of that being crammed into a small Piper-Aircraft for 85% of the movies duration.Long story short: if you want the story of the movie, watch the initial 20 minutes, and the final 15 minutes, and skip everything else!
chris dimarino Altitude is a Thriller/Horror movie that never really lives up to anything. Even if you cling to a hope that something large or satisfying will happen, you will be disappointed. This is only made worse by the fact that the acting, dialogue and plot developments do little more than to waste away an hour of the movie before the real events unfold. There is no one major flaw in this movie, however no tweaking would have made this view-able. This movie is fundamentally built around a thin plot which leads to a 20 minute series of events and it makes the whole movie seem disjointed. The plot of the movie is that a group of friends are flying to a concert and the main character in the group of 5 (Lowndes) is the amateur pilot. She offers the best moments in the movie, but even those are scarce. Errors during flight causes the plane to climb higher than intended without the ability to descend. The main cling of fear appeared to be fear of flying and the claustrophobia associated with the small cabin and uncontrollable circumstances surrounding them. However, as evidenced by the movie case, this is a monster movie though you could barely tell because it has so little face time.I am notorious for being able to sit through garbage horror movies just to see the twist or developments at the end. That being said, I waited patiently through the poor dialogue and acting. At first it seems that everything could happen to you and there is no need to suspend your disbelief as with many supernatural horrors. However, the ending and subsequently revealed underlying plot of the movie are very supernatural and unfortunately are flat and unbelievable. It really made me regret sitting through the early goings to get a stupid ending.I would not recommend this movie to anyone as it really has no redeeming qualities. The only people who might find it interesting are pilots, but for every plane focused moment, there are 3 where the physics and mechanics are awful.
