Hellen I like the storyline of this show,it attract me so much
Sexylocher Masterful Movie
Abegail Noëlle While it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.
Cheryl A clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.
F M There are a few things to say about this movie. The first is that the "hate" surrounding this movie sounds to me something that comes from people either not understanding its humor, probably fans of shitty comedies like Scary Movie, or people who expected some super-glorified review instead of an actual movie. The second thing is that although this is the AVGN's Movie... it's actually more the James Rolfe's movie. This movie is a sort of tribute to what James Rolfe loves and also his particular passions about movie. Those who know him well know he likes old movies, even old 1930's chillers, that he enjoys certain cinematic styles, practical effects, etcetera. It's also a movie about his nostalgia, the crazy ideas he came up with his friends over the years (like the crazy robot creature in the movie and shitpickle who also make a cameo).Indeed the movie contains a lot of materials that only fans of James Rolfe's work will understand... not only his AVGN show, but also his life passions and his ideas on film making. For example many special effects are intentionally cheesy, done with plastic models, which give the movie a sort of "Ed Wood allure", but in a positive way. Of course people expecting big studio SFX will be disappointed, but if you understand Rolfe's passion for practical effects and appreciate it as well, you will enjoy the cheesiness. Also there is this absurd, sometimes hilariously gory, humor to it. Of course some things are not perfect. The two co-stars do not really stand out (but are not that horrible either). Many wanted "known people" in it like Mike Matei... but Matei is rather camera shy (as he has admitted himself) and we do not really know if he can act at all (or even wants to for that matter, beyond his cameo). I am sure that if he did not appear as a co-star he had his reasons. Some parts of the story and pacing are not perfect either and not all jokes are evenly good. Still better than most comedies Hollywood churn out each year though.--A final word on the "haters". Some of them say that people have vomited ad hominems towards those who defend this movie, but I would say those people have more than one problem.I would group the haters in 3 groups: 1- People who don't know Rolfe/AVGN and do not appreciate his humor and ideas. Fair enough. Some people love "American Pie" movies, I think they are some of the worst and unfunny movies ever made. Tastes differ.2- Fans who were over-hyped for some glorified 2-hour review and expected something totally different. In the words of another game-reviewer: "fans are ever-complaining dipshits"... and often it's true. Most adaptations of books/comics/games into movies are usually hated the most by the so-called "fans". I will not say they have no right to their opinion, as they do... but I think they should start to understand that the movies is MORE than just about AVGN and the web-show.3- People who are simply stupid. This is not meant as an ad hominem but rather as a criticism of those who attack the movie (and those who like it) and have poor reasons to hate the movie.---As a final word I would say: not a perfect movie, but a good one. Yet not for everyone. I would not even say "only for fans". Rather I would say: for fans and non-fans who can appreciate intentional cheesiness and the other quirks of the movie and that can look past some of it's flaws.7.5/10 (rounded up to 8) I would say.
cemkalo Why even bother to make a movie about a character who curses at old video games? if the makers of it were smart they would have created something new.the whole thing was such a missed opportunity.i mean they could have still used the character in a different context. the storytelling aspect is even worse.if this is supposed to be a comedy then why isn't it even funny? have these people really such a lame sense of humour? this movie is not funny nor entertaining nor does it have any artistic value.so what is the point of it??? in conclusion this entire project was a bad idea and i doubt that they will ever get that much money again to make another one.
pro-andrius Yes, the movie is not perfect, but I really enjoyed it. It's better than most of the comedy movies we get anyway.I think it was the bad idea to have that many bad effects in the last part of the movie with too many ridiculous things that are happening. It should have been more realistic until the end because first half of the movie was quite realistic compare to the ending. So I think the problem are not effects or other stuff, because it kept the feeling of AVGN, but the problem is consistency through out the whole movie.Overall, I think it's pretty cool movie, that I've never seen before, so good work!To the haters: I don't understand you, most of you don't make any sense. You don't like things that what this movie makes of what it is. It's like saying "I hate this horror movie because it's scared me".
danblukk I have no clue why this movie is receiving such hate, were people going into it expecting The Shawshank Redemption or something.People saying it's cheesy and the effects are laughable, errr that's what they were aiming for, then start comparing it to other low budget films like Napoleon dynamite which was a weird creepy piece of crap.I'm not going to go into the plot and the acting performances you can see for yourself. One thing I was a little confused about was why they changed the names and covers of some games like they couldn't get the rights for them or something. To me this just seemed like a feature length AVGN episode defo worth a watch for nerd fans.
