Matcollis This Movie Can Only Be Described With One Word.
Smartorhypo Highly Overrated But Still Good
Melanie Bouvet The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.
Bob This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
sandcrab277 I found nothing funny about this movie...it was more of the sad old clap trap baloney used by out of work and out of touch comedians...its really paining me to watch it let alone write about it...no fat slob is going to get a girl like cara to bed yet alone getting head from her...its his fantasy talking...i'm happily watching something else that i don't have to groan over
Paul Celano (chelano) As a basic movie with a story line, this film was weak. As a comedy, it was great, but you have to like this type of humor. It is a bunch of snobby one liners full of crude humor. I am a fan of this humor and it had me laughing from start to finish. The cast is pretty decent and you could tell they just all had fun. Artie Lange was the fat idiot; although he looks skinnier in this movie than other ones I have seen him in. Ralph Macchio is in the film and he was not as funny as the others, but he still shows some acting skills. There are so many side characters in the film that it is hard to list them all. I am guessing they were just friends who got to be in the film. Some were Louis Lombardi, Jim Breuer and even Tina Fey. Some other side characters had bigger parts and were just as funny. Two characters I enjoyed a lot were Joe Lo Truglio who was wearing cut off jean shorts. That had me laughing every time he wore them. Then you have Jerry Minor who played the so called "token black guy". But that was to everyone else and not him. Then the actor who had the best lines in the movie was Seymour Cassel. The things he said really had me laughing. So overall, a pretty decent comedy, but as a full movie, it was just OK.
Ace_of_Sevens Beer League is for the most part competently made. The actors are believable and the sets look like what they are supposed to and the camera man doesn't trip with the the steadicam. That's about all I have to say about it that's positive. That, and that by IMDb votes, apparently only one girl in her tender developing years has been subjected to it.Perhaps if the movie weren't so misogynistic, it would have been merely stupid. This movie isn't funny and has nothing valuable to say. About the only use for it that I can think of is to demonstrate the virgin/whore dichotomy, perhaps more on display here than anywhere else. As of right now, this movie is only marginally below Ghostbusters 2 in its overall score. What is wrong with these people?
mcfly-31 Blatantly profane, smarmy attempt at a comedy, dealing with the uber-intense plot of a slovenly softball team trying not to get kicked out of their league. Perhaps if I grew up back east, where apparently close friends engage in non-stop insults of each other, their wives, and even small children. Or more importantly, was still a 14-year-old boy who could delight in laughing through a cupped hand at the hardcore sexual references. Maybe I'd be singing praises from a rooftop somewhere. Instead, I stared embarrassingly at the amateurish mess in front of me.I'm sure the target audience will cherish their dvds, but the limited release is the tell-tale of how unacceptable this is to most crowds. It borders on the same humor that made "Virgin" and "Anchorman" hits, but those films --- though I hated them --- at least limited their vulgarity. This film just purposely goes for the throat in terms of tastelessness and constant four-letter dialogue. It was good to see Macchio again (you could tell he asked that his cuss-words be kept to a minimum), and even Seymour Cassel play against type. But the casual nature of tossed off lines dealing with ejaculation and bj's was utterly desperate. And must we see another implausible romance between a hot slut and a greasy pudge? It's getting old. Did I mention the stripper that can launch ping-pong balls from her vagina? Nuff said.
