Roy Hart If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.

Michael Ledo The police accuse Bible study teacher Dror (Rotem Keinan) of molesting and killing three young girls. His "questioning-questioning" known as torture gets recorded and uploaded. The suspect is set free, but the consequences disrupts everyone's life. Later the father of one of the daughters captures both the policeman and Dror with his own plans in mind.One of the big plot holes is what was the CSI evidence? No DNA on the girls? Was Dror's place combed for fibers, hairs, prints? The film is made in Israel and is in subscripts. There are some attempts at humor in this torture drama, but the delivery and timing seemed off. I felt like I was being told a funny story by someone who messes it up.The film was a big hit at the 2013 Israeli Film Academy winning many awards (not best picture). It is highly rated by critics and fans. The film lacked the big twist and gave us a small, almost obligatory one instead. While it copies some aspect of Tarantino, you can detect it is a knock-off like a fuzzy print DVD.I think a better twist would have been if the dad was the killer and he got the innocent Dror to confess, the cop then kills Dror, the audience sees that the dad was the killer...then you go to the second twist ending as the cop is arrested for murder.Guide: No f-bomb, sex, or nudity. Some blood squirt. The torture scenes were either from a distant or showed you the after effects...except for maybe that one thing.

Reno Rangan The first thing I remembered was, 'Save the Green Planet', but it was a crime-thriller, not a fantasy-sci-fi. Tough guys in the leather jackets, guns in the one hand and cigars in the other, that's what I imagined when Tarantino favoured it. But this film was slightly not an aggressive like too violent. The screenplay was disturbed frequently when it begins to engage on the nervous side. Hence it makes you say 'just missed', sometime disappointedly. Anyway, no one told me it was a dark comedy, I took it as a surprise and somewhat enjoyed it.It was on the serious subject, but not the presentation. Keeps everything lightly, especially conceals the dark side of truth for the final twist. For us, as the viewers, the prediction is two ways, either 'he did' it or 'he didn't' like taking a side. Film length was good with a moderate pace. There's no place for the characters to unroll with the proper introductions, including not even the opening event on which the whole film stands. From the beginning itself the writer wanted to save it for the final revelation. That's not smart, that's afraid of leaving hints."Maniacs are afraid of maniacs."Kind of similar to Hollywood's 'Prisoners'. Well, almost matches, except the characters and places. A good movie, but not that good. Well attempted, I am sure many would love this film. The narration is about kidnapping a guy on the suspicion of crime for a secret interrogation. It hauls in the remaining till advance to the crucial end part. In the mean time, the torturing techniques and the suspense hold our position.Because of Tarantino's nod, it's an easy 'go for it', well, mostly for his fanbase. I say consider it and decide yourself after the watch, don't believe, not even me. To me it was the great opportunity missed to dominate, especially having a powerful title and theme. Still, I don't reckon it is a bad or worst movie, but surely one of the year's top 50 or maybe 25.The movie was as I thought. The story and my anticipation were on the parallel track aiming the same direction. At least I was occupied, but the issue was, it did not go above my expectation to surprise me with some interesting elements. It flunks, like trying to fill the new wine in an old bottle with the old label and description in it. Stylish, but attempted to be too clever was the let down by the slimmest margin. On the other hand, as coming from the Israeli, it is exceptional.6.5/10

grantss Great crime-thriller from Israel.Starts like a typical vigilante movie, but then develops into something more. It's a whodunnit and a dark drama, all with some very funny, witty moments. The funny, hip dialogue in the middle of some pretty violent scenes reminded me of the style of Quentin Tarantino.Good plot, with some decent, deliberate red herrings and a very good twist at the end. Not perfect - some gaps and unanswered questions remained at the end. The way some things happened were also just a bit too neat.As mentioned, great dialogue. Very funny at times.Solid direction. Tension is built and maintained well.Good performances all round.

alshwenbear1 It sounds like a comedy, and certainly, the way the movie plays undermines the seriousness of the subject, (no spoilers here!) but that is okay, because not always do things have to be so gritty, dark and brutal.In a way, "Big Bad Wolves" is the antithesis of "Prisoners" (2013), and this is not a bad thing, because "Big Bad Wolves" does not toy with our emotions, anger or despair, but with our curiosity, with our doubts, all the way to the final scene that fades into the elegance of irony and what we already knew.The acting and the atmosphere creates what I crave most in a film, and this is: unpredictability; who really did it?, why?, where? These questions became irrelevant, because we are just in it for the ride that provides a good movie like this.
