This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.

Why anyone would not give Billy Madison a 10 out of 10 is beyond me. The film is quintessential Adam Sandler and I wish he still made movies like this one. The plot is solid enough, but the movie is so quotable that the plot will not be what you remember with Billy Madison. There is a wide range of comedy present in the movie; The jokes in the movie range from random to raunchy to rude to simply gregarious. From the minute Billy goes to his first day of Kindergarten, the you will have a good idea of what the rest of the movie will be like. Chris Farley was a completely unexpected addition to the film, and he complements the movie absolutely perfectly. It's hard to not reveal spoilers in the review, just because the movie is so quotable and uniquely funny. If you have never seen it, watch it, and if you have seen it, it gets funnier every time you watch it.

This is one of those goofy, silly, awkward and stupidly funny flicks, starring Adam Sandler as Billy Madison, a rich but lazy son who makes a deal with his father that in order to inherit his hotel company, he must repeat Grades 1-12 in school in order to earn his education.Sandler seemed he doesn't care about good, careful and dramatic acting in this movie; he just wants to have fun and be silly, etching out slapstick comedy, gags and awkward moments whenever he can. It's probably a good movie for kids (minus the profanity) and teenagers, but adults might think the movie's pretty stupid and somewhat boring. The plot is somewhat fast-paced, but the overall acting and comedy, I though, were rather mediocre. This movie belongs on the list of films to watch only if you have absolutely nothing better to do or watch on TV.Grade D+

Adam Sandler acted way too stupid, annoying, and immature in this one. The nonsensical screaming and pulling faces. The horrible annoying "back to school" song he sang with that awful voice on his first morning of his school deal. And worse of all, the penguin! At a crucial part of the movie where explaining dialogue was badly needed between Adam and Veronica (the third grade teacher he was fixated with), the penguin suddenly shows up in Adam's mind again and he starts his nonsensical yelling again. Adam is an idiot man child who is twenty something and acts like he's a cross between a five year old and a perverted teenager. He never passed any of his grades before because of his rich dad bribing every teacher he ever had. One of the only funny lines: Adam's dad:"remember the second grade spelling bee? Spell rock?" Adm:"R O K?" Adam's dad:"R O C K!!!" Adam's dad's rival Bradly Whitford wants to take the business from him instead of Adam. The only way Adam will be able to take it, every grade passed in two weeks each. Then comes the endless barrage of stupid, stupid jokes of Adam going to school. Here are all of the awful parts of the movie: Everything with the penguin. Adam with the shampoo vs conditioner. Adam slurping his soup. Adam's "back to school" song, Adam thinking its OK to yell the F work in first grade class when discussing the "puppy that lost its way" children's book. The teacher rubbing glue on her face. The pee in the pants joke on the field trip. The clown falling. The scenes with the Josh Mostel principal (except for two moments, when's reading the note about himself "if I were him, I would walk into oncoming traffic", and the gay valentines note he passed to Adam). The hyena laughing of Whitford. The song, especially the part of the song with the clown. The montage with Adam in grades 4-8. The highschool scene with the chlorophyll teacher. Steve Buccemis character putting on lipstick. Veronica handling Adam's deppresion about being set up by punching him. The "ttttttttt today junior" line from Adam when a kid couldn't read and then Adam's stupid response when Veronica rightfully tells him off about it. Adam literally whining and storming out of the classroom like a whiny little kid during spelling on the blackboard. It was all horrible. Now for the few funny bits. The whole "O'doyal rules!" joke from different aged brothers of the O'doyal family in different grades being a jerk then yelling "O'doyal rules!" And the banana peel thrown by bus driver Chris Farley, the only other funny joke. And the banana peel leading up to the funny joke with the entire O'doyal family in the car. Chris Farely doing his trademark yelling and in a funny ironic way in one part, "no yelling on the bus!!" Everything else in the film was completely and totally stupid. Adam acted completely and totally stupid in this movie. Now, I am not saying I don't like Adam Sandler, I'm just saying I don't like him in this movie. When he has a good role like in "Drunk, punch, love", I liked him in that movie.
