It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.

It’s an especially fun movie from a director and cast who are clearly having a good time allowing themselves to let loose.

It is both painfully honest and laugh-out-loud funny at the same time.

Moju is ambitious art-house film. It's staged as homage to fine arts and for the most part theatrical. Artist's studio is huge, dark exhibition place for human limbs and parts of human body sculpt out of clay, with two giant naked female body forms in the center. That's the psychedelic stage where this story is to take place. I think it soon became clear there was one most likely scenario for me as viewer: to approach it on intellectual level. Blind Beast has a lot to offer visually, but it's stripped down in its core, an extreme psychology workshop with highly effective, post modern interior. I have noticed certain restraint here, it's not trying to evoke emotional response as primary goal.Blind sculptor (Michio) with slight Oedipal complex becomes fascinated with young s&m model. With the help of his mother he kidnaps the young girl (Aki) hoping to use her as model for his art. Things do not go quite as planned, turns out the girl is strong willed and stubborn with certain dislike of her new position. Battle of wills thus ensues. Using basic psychology she manipulates naive, asocial artist to gain his trust and up her chances for escaping the house. But, after several failed attempts she is forced to accept her fate and form a relationship with him. Both of them go through changes, each new step force them to adapt, and find a way to cope with the situation. It resembles a weird game, with ever changing dynamics between the two protagonists. It becomes apparent the girl, whom I first though was superficial or simply ordinary, shows considerable intelligence, and new found appreciation for the world of touch (the only world known to her captor), senses and darkly pleasures. And things escalate from there.Although protagonists are taking the realm of senses to extremes and turn pleasure into pain, most of violence happens off screen so Blind Beast's subtle and visually beautiful while demonstrating excessive, pathological desires and ideas. I first thought the titular Blind Beast is the sculptor, but have changed my mind during the film...twice. Having seen it, I don't think either of the characters are, I think the title refers to lust, surrender to senses, confirming there is such thing as too much of a good thing.

A blind sculptor and his Norman Bates inspired mother; except for the fact that she is alive, abduct a young woman and force her to model for the lunatic artist. She is kept in an old warehouse in this extremely sadistic sexual film. Whips, knives and meat cleavers are used to torture the victim, as she eventually loses her sight . He uses his hands to feel her body in order to create a giant statue of her. After a while, the model accepts her fate and puts the mother and son against each other which only complicates matters. Mako Madori is beautiful and seductive as the artist's model but overall Blind Beast is a voyeuristic, grade b horror movie, pretty much a Vincent Price Hammer Studios project with some nudity added.

Heading into Blind Beast I knew nothing about it. Nada. An IMDb Horror Boarder told me there were huge breasts in the flick. So naturally, having Asian fever and a love for gazungas I jumped at the chance. Well, I found out there were gigantic breasts, but not the type I was looking for. Oh, and also, the movie turned out to be a nice trip into the weird world of sex.Blind Beast is basically about a blind sculptor who kidnaps a very sexy model. The model constantly attempts to escape through various means, but with the help of the blind man's mother, she remains put. What follows is a trip into obsession and sexual behavior at the highest level.Blind Beast sounds like a film that would be really graphic, with lots of steamy sex ala Realm of the Senses. But it's not. Though, there's a good amount of brief nudity, a nip here and there, and some nice panty shots. Personally I think the film would have benefited more if it was a little more graphic. But, even without lots of nudity, the film still gets the message across, easily.Overall, the film is a really well made piece of work. From the fantastic acting, the gorgeous lead actress, the intriguing writing and story, the great directing and amazing set, it's one flick any fan of Asian cinema should definitely check out.

The first time I watched this movie, I found it by accident on one of the premium channels, SHOtime or something, and caught it about 20 minutes in. I thought it was going to be interesting, but I didn't know that this would turn out to be one of the greatest movies I've ever seen. The film is quite disturbing, and it is amazing that they were able to capture the horror with minimal amounts of blood. The sick love story that is drawn out over the course of the picture is portrayed excellently, mainly due to the fact that the actors are some of the best. The movie is basically a sort of cinematic "foreplay" for the most part, and during the last 30 minutes, the bizarre S&M sex scene begins. Not much is shown as far as the nudity and sex is concerned, but the bizarre activities they partake in are stimulating enough. If you find yourself aroused by this film, don't feel like you're a bad person. The last scene of the film is when Miachi uses a knife and hammer to cut Aki's arms and legs off, all at her request. He then slides onto the knife himself, ending his life as well. Aki then ends the movie by postmortem-ly saying something about those who dine on the feast that she and Miachi had were doomed to die a dark, dank death. For anyone who wants to watch a truly captivating horror film (I know, that sounds impossible), then I recommend Mojuu-Blind Beast.
