Keeley Coleman The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;
GL84 Living alone in the family house, a young woman staying with her invalid father finds that her sexual hang-ups can be solved when she meets a doctor with money problems and tries to convince him to knock off her father only for other complications to halt their plans.This here was quite the decent if wholly unspectacular effort. One of the finest parts of this one is the fact that there's a plenty of sleazy charms to be had here with the film really getting a lot of mileage out of her nymphomania condition. Since the vast majority of the first half here consists of getting her naked as often as possible, there's plenty of fine scenes of her getting naked and rolling around with other men around her so that it gets ample opportunity to showcase her body which is a rather nice feeling here. The duplicitous nature of what's going on, as everyone is attempting to screw everyone else over and get their hands on an inheritance sum manages to also feel quite nice within this part, as the very fact that everyone's backstabbing each other and trying to work out the situation for their own interests, from getting the father killed off to solving his money woes and how they both apply to each other gives this some really good sleazy thrills as well by giving this a solid framework during the time period which was flooded with such types of films. This really helps make the first hour quite enjoyable even with the lack of activity during this time, and while it picks up in the finale with the second seduction attempt and the eventual surge into more realistic realms which is quite fun, it's what really helps this one for the most part. That does highlight one of the film's biggest flaws in that for a large portion of time barely anything really happens here other than the nudity as the reliance on the backstabbing and double-crossing doesn't give this plenty of horror-based moments throughout here. The body count is exceptionally low as to be barely worthwhile, so there's hardly any gore or bloodshed and that also leaves this startlingly low on suspenseful or tense moments as well because of the storyline. This one never really offers up many chances because of how it's carried out, and only the fact that there are plentiful amounts of nudity in here does this one really feel appropriate for its time as it plays much older than it really should be based on the outcome featured here. That might leave this one strikingly disappointing for true horror fans, but it does have some solid and engaging moments within that do keep it from being flat-out boring.Rated R: Full Nudity, Language, Violence and a sex scene.
Coventry The greatest moment in "Blood Mania" is the point when you come to realize that the writer and lead actor of this terribly inept movie is actually one and the same person! So, in other words, this dude – Peter Carpenter – probably couldn't care less that the overall film is dull & derivative, because he arranged for himself that he could smooch and fondle the perky breasts of no less than three extremely cute and luscious women! Nice going, Peter! Hey, I certainly don't blame the guy because a) apparently he died quite young about one year after the release of this film, and b) at least "Blood Mania" is a lot more watchable than the other movie he wrote; "Point of Terror" starring Dyanne Thorne. Carpenter depicts Craig Cooper, a hunky and successful private physician with a stunning redhead girlfriend, but he's being blackmailed by a sleazy thug who knows that he performed illegal abortions in the past. One of Craig's patients is a wealthy private clinic owner with a nymphomaniac daughter named Victoria. Her insatiable sex-hunger is marvelously illustrated near the beginning of the film, when she jumps the pool boy who literally screams for his mother! Victoria wants to kill her father with drug aphrodisiacs and share the inheritance with Craig, but only if he promises to remain her personal sex toy forever. Complications arise when the inheritance unexpectedly goes to deceased's other daughter Gail. Luckily for Craig, Gail is another very beautiful chick that also easily falls for his charms, but obviously the mad raving Victoria will not allow this romance to happen! Okay, so… Where's the blood? Where's the mania? I'm actually convinced that this could have been much better, if only they focused more on the atmosphere and plot instead of the on the bare chests of the female cast members. The opening sequences hint at psychedelic situations, but the rest of the film is slow-paced and full of redundant dialogs. There's a bit of nasty bloodshed near the ending, but the actual finale is dumb and unsatisfying. The constant "music" is irritating and the best characters (like the witty nurse) get neglected. Worth seeing only for the continuously exposed boobs of Maria De Aragon, Reagan Wilson and Vicky Peters.
Aaron1375 Let me start off by saying that the only reason I gave this film a three instead of a one is because of the shear number of boobs on display. Yes, this movie is full of topless females that have really nice breasts. The score is absolutely no reflection of the story as when there were no naked females in this movie for the most part I was bored to tears. The plot at times is incomprehensible, I am rather sure a couple of scenes were left out of this movie and they were scenes that were intricate to the plot. I am rather sure the dinner that never materialized on film on the copy of the movie I had had some important details in it, but it was just mentioned in passing here. Also, there seems to be something sinister regarding the father and his two daughters once again only hinted at and never shown or revealed within the main story arc. The story is basically a doctor, two daughters and a father with a medical condition all intertwining. One of the daughters is not even seen or talked about till after the father's death. The other daughter really likes her daddy's doctor and will do anything to get him. He already has a great girl that lets a guy do horrible things to her to get him out of trouble, but she vanishes from the film after this act and the doctor never speaks of her again. He is being blackmailed by the guy who did the horrible thing to his girlfriend that the doctor apparently forgets about. He needs money and the one daughter is willing to do anything to get it when not scaring away the gay pool boy. A bunch of sex scenes ensue though nothing that gets really hot and heavy, though that would have only improved the score as it would have made you forget the horrible plot. The boob shots keep one somewhat distracted, but it just can not make you stop thinking to yourself that for a film called Blood Mania there is remarkably little blood in it. This film was also on a collection of gore house greats, and so far none of the films have been particularly gory, in fact this one should have been on boob house greats instead as that is the only redeeming part of this film. As it is the film is just confusing...still wondering why the guy carried the body out at the end.
tonymo1977 Most recently I purchased a collection of Horror films titled "Gorehouse Greats", 3 DVD's with 2 films per side, totaling 12 films. Being a huge fan of gore house cinema... I bit and the purchase was final. After thumbing through the discs- one in particular reached out to me. It was called "Blood Mania", it prompted me for some reason to place it in the Blu-Ray player and give it a go. The film presented itself to me in three parts over a three day period and with a title like "Blood Mania" how could I go wrong.....right?"Blood Mania" Stars Peter Carpenter as "Dr. Craig Cooper"and on this particular day he is visiting a patient, a Mr. Ridgely Waterman (Eric Allison) for a checkup. During that visit Dr. Cooper also meets Waterman's daughter Victoria. Victoria lives with her father and takes care of him, when she isn't trying to sleep with anything she can lay her smoking hot body down on.We soon learn that Dr. Cooper has skeletons in his closet, in the form of "Former Abortion Clinic Dr"....yes..that's right, he is a baby killer and someone is attempting to blackmail him for a 1970's whopping $50,000.....that's big cheese....I digress! Or the beans will be spilled, causing him to lose his medical license. This of course leads him to allowing the ever so hot daughter, to seduce him. Reveling her amazing naked body in scenes of 70's esquire porn...not that I would know what that looks like Now obsessed with Dr. Cooper, Victoria devises a plan to kill her rich, sick father and deliver the proceeds to the ever so smooth Doc.Meanwhile, Dr. Coopers girlfriend (Reagan Wilson) sleeps with the blackmailer( not to be confused with the black male...sorry, I continue) in an attempt to thwart him away from the morally rich Dr. Cooper, only to reveal her "Playmate of the Month"(October 1976) body in all its glory( songs of harps playing). Victoria( Maria de Aragon) becomes a hot mess and thus begins the downward spiral that is......"Blood Mania"OK, considering this film is from 1970, and taking it for what it is, I have to admit.....it's pretty good. It helps that there are beautiful naked bodies portrayed like 70's porn....didn't I already say that? I'm not talking brief nudity....ohh look her boob popped out. I'm talking straight soft core porn style...why do I keep saying porn? Peter Carpenters acting is a little over the top, however Maria de Aragons boobs are amazing...I mean, she plays out of her gord to the tee! **Random info alert** Apparently she played "Greedo" in the first "Star Wars" film....1st yes, however it was Episode IV...so there!Direction was fine, aside from Carpenters overacting(not sure there was a lot of real acting going on there). Set Design is simple and minimized to the few locations. The lighting and camera angles are refreshing, if you like boob angles from every direction.This doesn't give much away, however I will issue a **Mild Spoiler Alert** There isn't much blood in "Blood Mania"( that was it, not really a spoiler)Overall, their really is a plot to this film, and Director Robert Vincent O'Neil executes it quite well! Some of his "Popper" induced symbolism is a bit of a stretch, although with it being a 70's budget bomb...it fits well. Casting of the hotties is spot on and whoever's idea it was to strip them down...ohh yeah, it was the screenwriters...wait that was Carpenter....was a great idea!I like this film and recommend it to anyone who likes a little trance like horror, 70's style. Laced with naked bodies and an end twist for the ages.BruceVain
