Senteur As somebody who had not heard any of this before, it became a curious phenomenon to sit and watch a film and slowly have the realities begin to click into place.

Brendon Jones It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

bgoo-19890 An LGBT themed movie not full of cliche's and stereotypes. Trent Ford , Rob Mayes and Morgan Specter did an amazing job. These 3 guys put a serious face to a sad subject. Our LGBT service people and veterans have lived in the shadows for so long. They have served bravely and with distinction.Mr. Ford was and Mr Mayes were inspiration-ally moving in the sensitivity they showed.I need to also mention William Scott. There was an exchange between Mr. Ford and Mr Scott, where Mr Scott reaches out to Mr. Ford's character saying something like He had been waiting his whole life for someone. I cannot begin to understand how you feel. Mr Ford delivered that line in such a way as to relate the depth of feeling his character had.This is on my Re-watch list. Thank You for the movie and Thank You for amazing performances.

ekeby That's no indication of the sexual position preferences of the main characters, because I would have no way of knowing. This movie was so muddled and vague it wasn't even clear sex had happened until it was acknowledged in the dialog.We know the characters are in love. That's accomplished with smoldering surreptitious glances. But that's about all you can tell from this bottom-of-the-barrel script. It's really impossible to tell what's going on. It came as a surprise to learn that the action covers about eight years. One of the characters says so. I wouldn't have known otherwise.The plot is navy pilots vying for some prestigious assignment. Things go wrong. Eventually NCIS suspects planes crashed because pilots had gay feelings. No, really--that's it.The last quarter of the movie is more direct, focusing on the Don't Ask, Don't Tell idiocy. But it's pretty heavy handed. I almost expected one of the accusers to twirl a mustache, like the villain in a Dudley DoRight cartoon.I wanted to like this movie, in fact I liked the characters and the setting. But it's really only watchable if you don't care about things like continuity or logic.

rachsthree In this age of on-screen unrestrained sexuality, it's easy to dismiss one gay-themed movie as 'bad' since there isn't much baring man-on- man action, but Burning Blue is much more than that. It's a movie that requires the audience to think, to imagine what it was like back in the days of disastrous 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' policy.For me it plays out like a triangle love story, one between BFFs Will and Daniel, and one between Daniel and Matt. Will's character is ambiguous of whether he's straight or gay, some people might even call him a homophobic prick. My take is that he's a repressed homosexual who's actually forever in love with Daniel but just couldn't figure out what's what, and his world came crashing when Matt entered the frame and took Daniel's heart away.Many complaints that there are too many 'longing stares' between Matt and Daniel, the sexual things were only represented by one kissing scene while it's not clear whether they actually have done the 'dirty deed' back in NYC that night. For me Trent Ford and Rob Mayes have enough on-screen chemistry for us audience to feel that they're really in love, however repressive it must be at that day and age.This is one gem of a movie. We as the audience should do more justice to it, and not just take it for granted just because this isn't actually your run-of-the-mill, sex-romp, butt-baring, gay movie.

Jose David This movie reminds me somewhat of top gun. Wanting to the best at flight, relying on your mates and trying to hide faults / deficiencies. This movie was beautifully shot considering locations / sets. With the blessing of the USN it tackled a subject which is til this day still a source of anguish for many current and former service persons in all branches of our military and life in general. The development of the character relationships was just OK in that you get the connection but it was lacking a certain dynamic. The struggles of the main characters against the discriminatory system in the US Armed Forces, their families, friends and themselves is evident and well acted but again, something in the writing / development was lacking. Thankfully there wasn't many of the typical gay clichés in this movie.On a completely selfish note, while many the gay themed movie has gratuitous nudity and one sex scene after another. I'm kind of disappointed at the one "nude" scene there was. Not what I would've wanted or expected considering the main characters and theme. Again, completely selfish observation on my part though...I'm allowed :)
