Mia Gdowska BMus Hons I have read comments and i respect their opinions. I did like the movie. It was steady paced. I did get to know the characters before they met their maker. The movie didn't feel rushed. Unknown cast but OK acting. Gil Bellows from Ally McBeal was OK. He is so stereotyped as a a cop in most movies nowadays . A mid budget movie worth every dime. I am hoping for a sequel as we don't know the origin/s of the villain. Usually its a sad story (like most killers backgrounds). I hope there IS a sequel. The killings were innovative. Like Saw series. Some kills were quick and some were slower. Recommended to watch (similar) Unfriended. IMO very very good. Indie movies are pretty watchable nowadays. Watch this movie you won't be disappointed....OK the ending was a bit flat. Happy viewing.

Leofwine_draca CHAIN LETTER is yet another SAW derivative, this time made with a plot that copies that of THE RING. It involves a viral chain letter that's being spread by the Internet and mobile phones; little do those who receive the letter realise that it's been sent by a masked killer who's ready to bump off those who refuse to forward it on.Yeah, the plot makes little sense when you look at it like that, so what we're left with here is a series of gory set-pieces combined with a police investigation into the murders. In reality CHAIN LETTER is an excuse for some very gory murder scenes inevitably involving chains, although they're handled quite cheesily and are never disturbing.That's pretty much all the film has going for it, because the characters are extraordinarily dull and the it also manages to waste the talents of not one but two cult actors: Keith David (THE THING) plays a detective, and Brad Dourif (CHILD'S PLAY) is a teacher. Elsewhere we get Betsy Russell to hammer home the SAW connection while Michael Bailey Smith (THE HILLS HAVE EYES remake) is the hulking but brain-dead bad guy. Other than the fun gore there's nothing going for this one whatsoever.

Paul Magne Haakonsen This movie was not at all what I had expected it to be. Was it better? No, quite the opposite actually. This movie was really boring and was suffering from a rather silly storyline.The concept of this movie was about some chain letter that was sent out to a group of people, and those who deleted the message ended up dead in gruesome ways.Nothing much interesting happened throughout the movie, aside from the odd brutal killing here and there. But the characters in the movie were fairly one-dimensional and you never really cared for any of them or formed any kind of bond with them, so you ended up just shrugging most of the time and looking forward to the way that the next in line was killed.If you enjoy brutal horror movies with inventive killings, then you might find some enjoyment in "Chain Letter", but if you enjoy horror movies that are driven by a deep, captivating and interesting story, then this movie is a poor choice to put your money on.Personally, I was drifting off a couple of times throughout the movie, and my focus started to shift elsewhere. This movie didn't make any lasting impression, and it will never make it to a second time around in the DVD player. It simply just wasn't worth it.

GL84 After receiving and failing to forward a chain letter, a group of friends find themselves killed off one-by-one by a masked madman and must find a way to stop him before they're all killed.There was a lot of good things here which makes this a great deal of fun. The most notable of the film's positives is the awesome death scenes which are incredibly gory and a lot of fun. Some of the kills are pretty suspenseful and definitely creepy, and the action presented in the set-ups are rather fun, from the film's opening where a chained victim to different cars driving away from the same driveway, the football player who gets his face ripped apart by the steel in the high-school gym or the garage encounter in front of the visiting friend. That also helps out here with the stalking scenes throughout here as this one generates some really tense and thrilling scenes which makes for a surprisingly suspenseful time, as the walk-through of the abandoned pant with the dangling chains makes for a really comic feel, the big encounter in the bathroom where he traps her girlfriend inside and has to hold him off from breaking in is a particularly chilling highlight sequence and the stalking of the brother is really creepy with the continuous chain letters popping up driving him insane before getting to the big ambush kill in fine fashion are all really fun suspense scenes that make for a really great time here. This one also manages to get a lot right with the killer featured here who is quite imposing, not only being a muscular hulk of a man but wears a really imposing mask that works well due to the simplicity of it all, plus there's the added bonus of the unusual weapon for doling out the death that works really well and adds an extra dimension to the kills. These here are more than enough to hold this one up against the few flaws. The main problem here, which is what's really damaging to the film overall, is the utter cluelessness of them to figure out what's going on, waiting until far too late into the film to finally determine the true nature of what's happening and getting the proper authorities to realize the matter from there doesn't have any time to develop because of their cluelessness, which could've been avoided rather early on. As well, the cult angle comes out of nowhere and has so little set-up it's hard to feel for them since we know nothing about them, their purpose or even the motive behind this batch of kills, making for a wholly disappointing story overall that makes the first half here rather tough to get into. Likewise, there's also a pretty weak and overall lousy suspense scene in that section where he stalks the friend in the gym in a really protracted sequence that forever and really weakens it's suspenseful attempts here. It's still watchable due to the gore and the kills, but a little more info would work well.Rated R: Extreme Graphic Violence, Graphic Language and Brief Nudity.
