loueymc I really enjoyed this movie. It has a bit of everything in it, a small amount of Presidential side, a ton of adventure (without going crazy) really captures her feeling of wanting freedom and taking risks to get it, also has comedy in a light way from all characters, romance that blossoms not just between the main cast, tons of quirky characters and the President does not treat his Daughter like a child when she goes awry, they just simply get on with life! I've also seen First Daughter and can honestly say, I enjoyed Chasing Liberty much more...some previous reviews were spot on, it appeals much more to the mature side and much less to the Presidential side. Chasing Liberty kept me captivated right till the end. Katie Holmes did a great job as presenting herself as the First Daughter, very poised and a little lady basically, however Mandy Moore's character more captured the feeling 'trapped' and in desperate need of freedom and was willing to go to extremes to get it (which made for a fun and adventurous watch) , whereas Katie Holmes character played it more safe and had very little adventure. So, I guess it really depends what the viewer would prefer, watching a movie that's more about the Presidential side of things and prefers a younger outlook...if so, you should like First Daughter more. Or a movie that is fun and ultimately more appealing to the adult eye. Neither movie is bad, just different and both enjoyable in their own ways, but I have to say I would rather watch this one again! Also, the ending was much better with Chasing Liberty 8/10

blanche-2 "Chasing Liberty" from 2004 is a film for young people, much younger than I am, certainly, but I rented it because I am a huge fan of Matthew Goode. The film stars Mandy Moore, Mark Harmon, Jeremy Piven, Annabelle Scioorra, and Caroline Goodall.The President's teenage daughter (Mandy Moore) is sick and tired of never being alone and being unable to date anyone who doesn't become intimated by practically being strip-searched when he picks her up and surrounded by secret service.When the First Family goes to Prague, she gives the secret service the slip and takes off on a motorcycle with a handsome young man (Matthew Goode). Little does she know, he's one of the President's people. Cute film, with nice performances. But the star of the film is all the European scenery in Prague, Berlin, and Venice. It's just beautiful.All the music is great, including the opera. I enjoyed it a lot.

SandyLiz This movie is terrible. It's like the actors were phoning in their lines. The exciting parts were good but obviously done by stunt doubles. The scenery was good but undoubtedly faked. The crowd scene was the only good part. And the motorcycle rides were okay. The story was silly and unbelievable. This is obviously a movie for girls under the age of 13. I love Matthew Goode but even he couldn't save this movie. If you want to see Matthew Goode in a good romantic comedy try Leap Year. It has a better script, better acting (Matthew is amazing) and about adults unlike Chasing Liberty that shows immature, clueless characters.

Gorky Bedi Anna Foster(Mandy Moore) is the teenage daughter of President James Foster(Mark Harmon) and First Lady Michelle Foster(Caroline Goodall) who's not too happy with the Secret Service agents interfering in her personal life. Thus, when the First Family heads to Europe for work, Anna wants to cut loose with her old friend, Gabrielle. She is more than happy to help Anna protection, which includes Weiss(Jeremy Piven) and Morales(Annabella Sciorra) and escape. She does so by getting a ride from a British photographer Ben Calder(Matthew Goode), who actually is an undercover agent assigned to protect her. When the President learns that Anna is with Ben, he orders that the agent continue his act and try to present himself as a new friend so that she can experience some freedom, but in a controlled fashion. As the two make their way across Europe, accompanied by McGruff(Martin Hancock), with Weiss and Morales trying to track them down and flirting themselves during that course of time, Anna and Ben start to develop feelings for one another. As love sparks, both must reveal their true identities to each other, that takes the movie to the next level. Good music, especially Who Needs by Jason Mraz and good locales make the movie worth watching.
