As Lyla makes her way to her new dorm, her suitcase bursts open, revealing a mysterious note that ominously reads, "This is just the beginning." Initially regretful about her move, her encounter with Sean, which blossoms into romance and eventually sours into a breakup, seems to confirm the message of the note. However, her new friendship with Rachel helps her see New York in a new light. By the story's end, when Lyla comes across the note again, she interprets its message differently it signals the start of her own journey, filled with both challenges and triumphs.
