I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.

This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.

One of those movie experiences that is so good it makes you realize you've been grading everything else on a curve.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

This is one film most people will love or won't watch the whole thing. The stories concern reincarnation of the soul (?) although it goes far beyond that. The same half dozen or so people in one life are connected in similar ways in different lives. And a person who gets a scar or mark in the future, will have that mark show up in the past as a birthmark. Clearly this film goes way beyond any simplistic idea of reincarnation and makes it into a cult doctrine. There are 6 separate tales, although the film seems to concentrate on the two future stories. "Souls" are connected by generally having the same people play different parts, or by connecting them through aforesaid mark. The beginning of the film was confusing as it presents the ending of the various lives. The lives of these people are not simple. They are filled with trauma, killing, and intrigue. Scenes are connected by showing people doing similar things in different life times such as passing through a door, i.e. the so called "smart" and "clever" aspect of the movie.Rather than asks questions about truth and free will, the movie gives you David Mitchell's answers, which you may or may not agree with. For those who believe in some universal bond that links lives past and present to the seemingly inane point that things that will happen in the future will effect the past, you should enjoy this film for a full 5 stars. For me the film was too artsy, telling stories in a disjointed fashion that lacked depth and meaning to my life.I would wait for the DVD to see this film as there are things that are easily missed and will need multiple viewings to grasp. If they really wanted to make their case, they should have named Tom Hanks "Wilson" as an island dweller.Parental Guide: F-bomb, sex, nudity.

Everything is connected: an 1849 diary of an ocean voyage across the Pacific; letters from a composer to his lover; a thriller about a conspiracy at a nuclear power plant; a farce about a publisher in a nursing home; a rebellious clone in futuristic Korea; and the tale of a tribe living on post-apocalyptic Hawaii far in the future. Cloud Atlas looks outstanding and believe me it is especially on it's make up and special effects department but unfortunately the confusing plot and different stories make for a really disappointing science fiction movie. (5/10)

The movie is about different time lines that are connected in a way, by consequences, it show us how little things can
change a lot and how some acts ,no matter how small, can inspire big things like a revolution or a rebellion.
The movie indeed is good and it can be a bit confusing at the beginning, but that is not a bad thing but a good thing
because it makes we think about the things that are happening at the film and think in some explanations to these events,
but this felling just show up in some moments like the beginning and the mid-ending of the movie.
The bad things is that the movie doesn't give us much detail about the background of each time line , it doesn't explain
why somethings are happening , and why and how things happened to the world and to the humanity at the future

There will be people who will say this one of the best movies they ever watched. There would also be people who say this is one of the worst movies they will ever see. The hard part about reviewing this movie is that I don't think this can have a normal, fair review. This is a very long movie. It has a run-time of just under 3 hours, but it feels like it's 4 hours. I think this directly correlates with the problems in tone. The movie tells multiple stories, ones that span across centuries. The movie just has a hard time, keeping a solid tone. From one second you will go from a gunfight or an ax battle, then to a a character ascending to some kind of spiritual order. Honestly though the biggest problem in the messages the movie wants to give are of many, but the main point simply does not carry too much weight. There will also be times when you wonder if there are any reasons why certain scenes will be taking place, and if they have a a deeper meaning, few times with no answer. Cloud Atlas might be a masterpiece, but so far I have nothing. I am going to give Cloud Atlas a 6.
