Hellen I like the storyline of this show,it attract me so much
WasAnnon Slow pace in the most part of the movie.
Tedfoldol everything you have heard about this movie is true.
ChanFamous I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.
ira - *No spoilers until the end of the review* (no explicit spoilers in the end either, but you can easily guess what it's about)Two elderly lesbians, Stella and Dotty, on a road trip to Canada to get married. On their way they pick up a hitchhiker, Prentice. Cloudburst is a beautiful and funny movie with great pacing and good actors. I liked the characters and their stories, they were funny and interesting and each character brings their own personality and complexity into the movie. The one thing I disliked about this movie is the ending, on which I elaborate below. All in all, definitely worth watching. ***spoilers (not explicit)***The ending could have been better. I don't have a problem with sad or tragic endings, but it was absolutely unnecessary here. It didn't add emotional depth or anything good into the movie. It could have just as easily ended happily and it would have been just as great if not better.
aksns61 While the overall context was clever and cute, I felt myself constantly jarred by inconsistent scenes and completely out of touch portrayals of locations and characters. The "butch" of the duo was overdone and also got in the way of the movie as a whole. The introduction of the young man was clever BUT the development of the character was poor at best. He delivered his lines well, and he was authentic, but the script went from bad to worse. There were many holes in both the plot and the locations.Border crossings were ridiculous and anyone who is from N New England would know, crossing from Maine to Canada, heading East to Nova Scotia takes you into FRENCH speaking New Brunswick Canada!!! All signs will be in French, all stores, shops are in French. Instead this was shot on the cheap and all signs, streets, locations were English Speaking. The young man's family was never introduced or developed in a way that the audience would know anything about how this guy somehow grew up in a home where he had no room , nor could live in, nor had a "father" which was plausible. Furthermore lived on a farm where there was no barn, no crops and no animals.Every single town looked the same....The absolutely ridiculous was the view of the SUNSET looking over the Atlantic Ocean- eh? If your on the EAST Coast, its a sunrise.... the west coast its a sunset. The movie was filled with these flaws that took away from the overall theme of two women that had lived together for 31 years.Save your money and time, skip this one...
kindtxgal I would have liked to give this film a higher rating but contrary to other reviewers, I do not believe that one has to be immersed in excessive profanity and garbage language to "get into" a characterization.Hundreds of early movies have successfully and vividly portrayed "bullish" characters without having to adopt garbage can lingo to create their character as more "believable". Frankly, I find excessive garbage can language distracting and used to "fill time" which could be better used to tell the story more thoroughly.I did like the story, however, just got tired REAL FAST of Dukakis's bad dialog. Again, when an actor has to rely on garbage for language to create their character, something is badly lacking in their acting abilities.I loved Brenda Fricker's character however, as well as the male stripper wanna be -- great characters and placed against Dukakis's over the top, offensive yuck, it was a welcome relief.Tender, fantastic story of what some may consider an unconventional love. THAT at least survives throughout all the bad language miraculously.
cmcaleer1 It has been a long time since I have enjoyed a movie as much as I did when I watched Cloudburst last summer. My daughter and I watched it together and we laughed and cried all the way through it. I had not heard anything about the show before seeing it and it was a thrill to be so surprised at how great the show was. While all of the cast played their parts wonderfully, my favourite character was Ryan Doucette and I look forward to seeing him in many more future movies. I hope it comes out on video so I can buy a copy to add to my home collection. I can't wait to watch it again. Thank you for such great entertainment and keep up the great work Ryan.
