Laikals The greatest movie ever made..!
Plustown A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.
Micah Lloyd Excellent characters with emotional depth. My wife, daughter and granddaughter all enjoyed it...and me, too! Very good movie! You won't be disappointed.
Darin One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.
Ian (Flash Review)Imagine an intruder breaks into your home at night and you accidentally shoot and kill them. How would you handle the situation? Then how would you deal with the intruder's father stalking and threatening you? That's how this movie starts off. Very tense and nerve racking premise. Then the movie takes a turn and ditches that plot line to follow a new twist. Then part way though that yet another storyline dropped for a darker and brutal twist. While all parts are very intriguing and gut wrenching at times, the movie feels to disjointed with bad editing and pacing and leaving too many key plot lines abandoned. This isn't a terrible movie, the acting is solid and the scenes are gritty but it needs another editing pass.
phgphg-03679 totally unbelievable , things just don't add up , you kill a man and then your wife is worried about the design on the sofa you just bought to replace bloodied one ? shallow or what ? put the bloodied seat covers out for the binman without wrapping them first ? our binmen wouldn't take them , risk of disease etc ! police leave a drugged man on the rail tracks but fail to wait for the train ?three guys then go on the hunt to find out who done what to who , and then the family guy turns into a pallid sort of clint eastwood when he was supposed to be so shook up about killing an intruder , has he all of a sudden grew some ?the world doesn't work like that !whoever wrote this load of rubbish needs to go back to the drawing board
redrobin62-321-207311 Kewl film. Wasn't as graphic and brutal as I'd hoped, but then again, I've probably been looking at too many Korean, French and German thrillers lately.Almost everything was right with this movie - the acting, pacing, cinematography, direction, sound design, etc. Sam Shepard, looking as worn as merle Haggard, played his part well. Don Johnson also hit the nail on the head as well as Michael Hall. This was a tense enough thriller and didn't really drag. The unexpected twists sure kept me on my toes. My biggest issue, however, was the incompleteness of the script. What happened to all the corrupt cops? They disappear into thin air? Maybe there's a sequel to 'Cold In July' in the wings. Let's hope so.
LeonLouisRicci From an Indie-Director to Keep Watching, Jim Mickle, this Neo-Noir has Found its Place in the Pulp Fiction World that is Forever Fascinating and Continues to add to the Legacy. It's a Film that Manages all the Ingredients that make these Type of Things Thrilling Entertainment. It's a Cold and Dark World out there and it has a way of Influencing Folks in Bizarre Ways and it is Nature's Evil in Full Display.Stylish, Foreboding, and Unsettling the Noir World has Intruded into the Life of an Unassuming Nice-Guy whose World View is Spiraling Out of its Orbit and Michael C. Hall is going Along for the Ride and seems Fascinated Although Frightened by it all. It doesn't get anymore Vile than the Things that these Dixie Mafia Types are doing and that Justifies the Protagonists Taking Action. Don Johnson makes His Mark as a Private Detective with Style to Burn and Sam Shepard is a Career Criminal with a Haunting and Cold-Blooded Psychology that's a Scare to Behold.Reminds Somewhat of John Dahl's Red-Rock West (1993), but its Familiar Homages Don't Stop there. It's Fun Finding Them out if You are a Fan of Neo-Noir, B- Movies, and Off-Beat Crime Thrillers.
