AboveDeepBuggy Some things I liked some I did not.
Ploydsge just watch it!
Scotty Burke It is interesting even when nothing much happens, which is for most of its 3-hour running time. Read full review
Raymond Sierra The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
noahluiken As someone who has never watched an anime, or an animated epic I was actually impressed by the amount of change and variations that were in the animation style. Not to mention the film was able to provide great imagery to the confusing description of Dante's divine comedy. Also the writer was able to keep to main points of Dante's inferno and leave a cliffhanger for the possible next film of purgatory. In general the film was the best animated epic that I have ever seen with its great animation style and plot development.
Angels_Review The story line is a little different then the actual game and the language is a bit forced. They used old time language which means its heavy in old English. But the voices are perfect and don't change from what they should be.The worst parts that they changed the facts of who sowed the cross on Dante's chest. It meant more when Dante was the one that placed it on him self. It showed he was willing to look at his sins where when it was placed on by some supernatural creature, then it shows he is forced to look at what has happened. It is a little bothersome that they had to change the whole reasoning for that. The art style changes a bit threw the show like each circle was drawn by a different person, and I think it's because there were way too many people working on this one movie. Each director pretty much got a piece of hell to work with and I guess they never shared the design of the main character with one another because Dante and Virgil really do not look the same though out the show. The only style that feels like it belongs is the first one, mostly the reason why I had kept watching. The first one shows a style much like a American Comic Book character. Normally I didn't like that style, but I like it for this one. It has a rather nice idea of a hero who had to overcome everything for the one he loved. As the story keeps going, sadly, some of the circles seem to be cut short and its sad because some of the areas could of just excluded a bit to give them equal time. How Virgil acts, it seems that he is trying to make Dante destroy Hell. Take it as you will on that but it's what it feels like to me. For all it's worth, It is a good one even if the art style changes.
darthsitkur Dante Alighieri returns home from the crusade to find his servants and his father slaughtered and Beatrice close to death. when Beatrice's soul prepares to enter heaven, evil ghosts emerge from the ground and take her into the underworld and Dante has to brave the nine circles of the underworld to rescue her while guided by the spirit Virgil. this is like literally the best and the most intense animated movie I have ever seen, it's really intense, it's creepy, it's action packed, it's scary, it's bloody, it's gruesome, it's gross, it's disgusting, it's disturbing, and it keeps you on the edge of your seat, just the way that I like it, in other words, it's a really great action packed horror film. also, the voice acting was amazing and every single minute of the movie gives you chills down your spine, and as for the gore factor, this is the goriest, the bloodiest, and the most disturbing horror movie I've ever seen, it's bloodier, gorier, and more disturbing than 30 days of night for crying out loud lol. this movie is not for the squeamish AT ALL and IT IS NOT FOR KIDS, this is an animated film for teenagers and adults only
Armand An anime as instrument to expose Dante universe. Strange and full of great intentions. A warrior against demons and Devil, A delicate Beatrice and sage Virgil, love story, action and moral lesson in same skin, show and presentation, ad usum delphini, of a masterpiece. Great intentions and a final strange taste. Dante is only excuse for an experiment, nice and boring, revolutionary and nasty, with too many ingredients and an ambitious chaotic cook. So, it is interesting to define the target. Imagine the public for this version, very Japanese and cold, technical and strange. Only game for a generation behind books, part of a trilogy, maybe, violent and absurd, a fairy story in irregular uniform, it is not a disappointment if recognize the wave of movies in which history, legends and literature are a form of cake with taste of fast - food. Mirror of our society, piece of wet sand, it is a kind of Divine Comedy ersaz.
