Reviews

Softwing Most undeservingly overhyped movie of all time??
Griff Lees Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
Roy Hart If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.
Francene Odetta It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.
utgard14 Dolph Lundgren plays police detective Jack Caine (cool name), a tough cop who doesn't always follow the rules. He's assigned a new partner, a by-the-book FBI agent (Brian Benben). The two are forced to work together to bring down a gang of drug dealers called the White Boys (good lord). Their investigation leads them into conflict with a mulleted alien killer who is being pursued by a mulleted alien cop.A sci-fi action flick that's better than it has any right being. That isn't to say it's good, just not the stinker I thought it would be. The whole thing is full of clichés. They mine every cop movie cliché from the '80s and '90s imaginable, as well as borrowing from a number of sci-fi and horror movies. Still, the aliens & drugs angle seems fresh and everything is handled slickly. The buddy cop parts of the movie are fun, with the 'Oscar & Felix' dynamic between Lundgren and Benben working well. The action scenes are fine, as are the bits of nudity throughout. The soundtrack is pure late '80s greatness (or ear cancer if you're not into hard rock or light metal). It's nothing that's going to change your world but it's a decent way to pass the time, if you're a fan of buddy cop movies or action sci-fi. I saw this under the title I Come in Peace. The other title is Dark Angel, an unimaginative title which was been used for lots of things and doesn't really tell you anything about the movie. I prefer I Come in Peace.
Phil Hubbs What on earth is going on with the film title here I dunno but I prefer 'Dark Angel' for sure. Anyways this was Matthias Hues big flick for which he is most remembered for, which isn't much to shout about.Very silly sci-fi flick about an alien drug dealer sucking endorphins out of human brains to sell all over the galaxy. Its very hokey even for its time and without Lundgren would be total B-movie schlock. Even with Lundgren its still pretty poor with bad effects, terrible acting and only a few impressive car stunts to hand. I mean really...how can you take this remotely seriously with a gang of thugs called 'The White Boys' that are all dressed in suits and look like killer yuppies. Its a classic dumb sci-fi B-movie for sure but I just didn't really like it that much. Benben was constantly annoying and the whole film was trying way too hard with the obvious mismatched buddy cop/hero duo squabbling with each other setup. All this did was come across as boring clichéd unoriginal and resulting in some majorly lame forced humour.4/10
FlashCallahan Jack Caine is a Houston cop who's mission is to stop the drugs trade and the number one supplier Victor Manning.Whilst involved in an undercover operation to entrap Manning, his partner gets killed, and a sinister newcomer enters the scene.Along with F.B.I. agent Smith, the two investigate a spate of mysterious deaths; normal people dying of massive heroin overdoses and bearing the same horrific puncture marks on the forehead. This, coupled with Caine's own evidence, indicates an alien force is present on the streets of Houston, killing and gathering stocks of a rare drug found only in the brain...In the late eighties, early nineties, stars like Van Damme, Seagal, and Lundgren had moderate success at the box office. The movies were not for everyones palate, but if you were a fan of eighties action, you were sold straight away. This has to be Lundgrens best stand alone feature, it's high concept, exciting, and most of all, a lot of fun.The man can't act at all, which is clearly evident when he finds his partner dead. But your not watching this for the performances, your watching this to see a huge alien with funny eyes shooting a CD from his sleeve, and run like he has lots of springs in his shoes.Considering it's age, and the synth soundtrack by Jan Hammer, it's aged really well, and it's one of those action movies that just gets better with every viewing..
amesmonde An alien humanoid is murdering citizens of Houston to gather stocks of a rare drug only found in the human brain. With the help of a FBI Agent a Vice Cop sets out to stop the killer, whatever the cost.Director Craig R. Baxley's Dark Angel or Stateside known as I Come In Peace is entertaining and of its time. Written by Jonathan Tydor and Leonard Maas Jr. Dark Angel is surprisingly above average for a sci/fi thriller for the time. The character of Jack Caine played by Dolph Lundgren is partially fleshed out and tries it's hardest to go against the 80's stereotype macho cop.The other characters are well rounded but it's the delivery and how the actors realise some of the characters that skewer the production including Lundgren. That said, aliens Azeck (the Good Alien) Jay Bilas and (Bad) Talec played menacingly by Matthias Hues steals the show. With his size, white eyes and hair Hues' composure Talec is particularly creepy. The unlikely pairing of Caine and FBI Agent Smith add that buddy cop element synonymous with action films, similar to Red Heat and Alien Nation and although worn adds some humour. There's an over powering sometime misplaced and intrusive score, that said the lasso extraction and insertion/extraction spike effect are basic but effectively done and sci-fi fans will get a kick out of the spinning blade reminiscent of Predator 2. There's lots of explosions, gun-play, chases and clichés aside, the partner murdered, cop suspension, no one believes to name a few there's a good science fiction tale.
