Absolutely Fantastic

I was totally surprised at how great this film. You could feel your paranoia rise as the film went on and as you gradually learned the details of the real situation.

I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
The Grand Master
Derailed is another poor movie that did no favours to Van Damme's career that had been heading downhill since the late 1990's. The entire story is derivative, the action is not enjoyable, the stunts are rubbish, and the acting is the worst of it all.In a nutshell, Jean Claude Van Damme is NATO operative Jacques Kristoff who has been tasked to track down Galina Konstantin played by Laura Harring (Mulholland Drive), who has stolen an extremely valuable and dangerous top-secret cargo. Kristoff manages to find Galina and in order to complete his mission he must return Galina and the stolen cargo to his superiors via train. The stolen cargo turns out to be vials of SP-43, a biological weapon. Along with Kristoff and Galina, for some unknown reason Kristoff's two children are traveling with him on the train as well. Why you ask? Don't bother racking your head asking why.A group of terrorists led by Mason Cole played by Tomas Arana (Gladiator) hijack the train and have released the virus, infecting the passengers on the train. It's no surprise that it is up to Kristoff to single handedly take on the terrorists and save the passengers including his family. Derailed seemed like a combination of Under Siege 2: Dark Territory (1995) and Outbreak (1995) and its no wonder why the entire movie felt so derivative yet it was done poorly. Everything was just bad about it.I'd ask for a refund but it would be futile.Certainly one to forget for Jean Claude Van Damme.1/10.

Okay, I watched this movie just to see a motorcycle riding on top of a train, and I'm reviewing it only to say that J-C Van D did an impressive job of acting in the couple of scenes right after he loses his son. Other than that, the acting is second-rate, to be kind (and that includes the woman who plays his wife).I enjoy a movie mainly for plot and clever dialogue. This had none of that, but if action is your thing and acting is not important to you, you might enjoy the ride. The plot deals with biological weapons. Once again, the thugs' cronies have to be out of their minds to give their loyalty and trust. Does money really make you that stupid? These guys never worry that they will not be given the antidote to the germs.Typically, Van Damme is lured back into the spy business for an important job, and he is not convincing to his wife nor the audience why he "just has to." Everything else was just that typical as well.But...I stayed for the whole ride, and didn't end up angry over wasting 90 minutes of my life (but maybe that was just the mood I was in). I wouldn't recommend it to anyone but Van Damme fans, and all of them surely will have seen it.

The beginning knocked it off. In 2002 it seems, that we all here in Slovakia drive cars from 1970's, there are red-berets and barbwire everywhere and we hunt mammoths for dinner :-D. Why to create such image of the post-communist country? It's been at least 10 years past the era when this title was in production. Doesn't make sense at all. Not to mention that almost none of the scenes were actually shot in Bratislava (I believe it is Sofia, Bulgaria). The entire movie is so bad I don't even care for commenting extensively. Inaccurate set, awkward action scenes, poor characters, idiotic story. Full of completely non-sense artificial constructs, shallow and predictable plot. The only thing that made sense here was Jean Claude Van Damme and what you expected of his performance while he attempts to save the day. Otherwise, just bad. If you value your time, avoid watching this title (which I wouldn't even dare to call a decent movie)!

Now I've always liked Van damme movies...well most of them and I'm not one to be critical of them and some are really worth seeing like timecop, replicant, in hell etc etc.Anyway this movie is just fail, it even being compared to under siege 2 is just humiliating, the story is lame and predictable, the effects are horrible and are similar to a student first learning how to do effects in movie maker and of course the acting is terrible too, but the acting is probably the best part of the movie even though it still is terrible.I also read somewhere this movie cost 20 million, I mean this movie looks like it could of been made with less than $500 000 easy, all that is needed is a rented train to be filmed and then adding van damme on a animated bike, that seemed to be the hardest part of the movie. Not much more has to be said other than don't waste your time with this movie it is pathetic and will actually make you more stupid by watching it, only point to watch it is to see how bad a 20 million movie can be.
