Softwing Most undeservingly overhyped movie of all time??
Micah Lloyd Excellent characters with emotional depth. My wife, daughter and granddaughter all enjoyed it...and me, too! Very good movie! You won't be disappointed.
Payno I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
Edwin The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.
Michael Ledo This is a fast paced "Student Bodies" meets "Scott Pilgrim" type of movie. The humor comes at you quick and you must pay attention. It is a teen slasher spoof film, but also tosses in a few aspects of other films. There are clues as to what is going on, but don't worry about trying to catch them and figure out the film, just enjoy the scenes. Some lines that come too mind:"Pregnant teens are never funny." A clear slap at "Juno.""I only eat baby animals.""Pain don't hurt.""Where did you learn to make a snuff porno? Lady Gaga?""Gnawing through boyfriends like an unfed piranha.""This human conversation thing isn't working. Let's do texting."The production incorporates numerous obscure 1980's references, some of which are explained. The film is done in a modern quirky "Scott Pilgrim..." style, but knowledge of 1980s movies is helpful in order to enjoy the feature. There is a slasher at school. Meanwhile Ione (Spencer Locke), the cute air headed blond likes under achiever cool guy Clapton Davis (Josh Hutcherson). She has given up her jock boyfriend Billy Nolan (Parker Bagley)for him. He wants to beat up Clapton over her, and he is willing to fight for her because she is deep and likes Sting. Meanwhile Riley Jones (Shanley Caswell) has a crush on Clapton and becomes a third wheel.PARENTAL GUIDE: F-bombs, brief sex and brief nudity.
Hank_Melluish Well, this movie was an insult to the craft. I have never actually seen a movie that is worse than this one, and I've seen lot of movies. Just this week, I watched Scary or Die, Taken 3 and Patrick: Evil Awakens. These movies are, by no means, good, but they didn't make me ashamed to admit that I enjoy film. This movie, however, did. Before I continue, I'd like to say that there was much more wrong with the movie than 1000 words can hold. For starters, it is trying to be the Scream of our generation. The stereotypical teenagers being killed off one by one, constantly referencing movies, and pointing out clichés. This movie though, was absolutely terrible. The characters were unlikeable, and unbearably predictable. The visual effects were cool to a certain extent, but they couldn't even afford to break real glass. Here's where I'll get into the REALLY crappy aspects of the movie. Time travel. It's a thing. And I won't go into much detail, but let me just say: It makes no damn sense.Well, I'm running out of characters to use, but another HUGE issue about this movie has not yet been brought to light. One of our characters is part fly. Why? It actually serves no purpose in this story. He pukes acid, can sprout wings, and is super strong (a typical fly trait). We are led to believe that this will at some point come back as a plot point, but he gets butchered soon after this realization comes to light. Seriously. So, watch Detention if you so wish, but be prepared for shockingly poor acting, predictable story progression, nonsensical plot, serious plot-point abandonment, and really BAD character names. All in all, this is the worst movie that I've seen in years. And I have seen Patrick: Evil Awakens.
teaguewd I give this a seven because I have to round up, but its the archetypal 6.5There are a lot of references in this that are worthwhile, but they are so disjointed it hard to make anything of them, in fact its hard to really take anything from this one. Its about as relentless as anything you'll see, but its pace is too overwhelming to say it "meanders" through a narrative that becomes suddenly and violently indecipherable about half-way through. As far as a horror film goes, this one is actually a bit of fun, but doesn't deliver to enough of a horrific atmosphere to enthrall in that way, in fact I wouldn't even call this on the fringe or horror/baroque horror. The cheap references and wacky writing is pretty hit-and-miss, the hits substantial but the misses more common. Perhaps the most misleading things about it due to the fact that its plot structure involves 50% exposition/onset phasing. All things considered it one of the funner films you wouldn't have seen available on the internet TV or wherever else, but don't expect to be thinking about it hours after watching it. If you are then you should probably get your stuff together.
filmchasing A serial-killer goes on a rampage of murdering high school students. A smörgåsbord of every teen movie ever made set in a high school horror story. That said, the visual and stylistic aspects are out of this world. Sadly, a film can't survive on just that. With no clear mood established, the audience is left confused as to what to feel -- unless you're under the age of 25, media-obsessed and happen to like films that appear surface-cool (i.e. music videos) with one or two "heart-to-heart" moments force-fed into the script. Overall a fun and strange watch if you don't take it too seriously, but not my cup of tea. 6.2/10
