A Surprisingly Unforgettable Movie!
Robert Joyner
The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

Easily the biggest piece of Right wing non sense propaganda I ever saw.

The movie really just wants to entertain people.

This story is not true; it is total fantasy. Eloise was a real place but otherwise the story is total fiction. I don't see any reviews that makes that totally clear. The story is ridiculous, as many other reviews say. It is also boring and confusing. It is boring in that there are portions that are like dramatic pauses that are quite lengthy and then not much happens after the pause; little or no drama. It is confusing because there are flashbacks but I have no idea of the relevance of the flashbacks. Sometimes the present-day characters are in the flashbacks but there is a thirty-year difference in time. Perhaps there is an explanation in the movie about how the present-day characters are in the flashbacks and if so then I was too bored to understand. If you are an Eliza Dushku fan then I think you will be disappointed; there is not much material in the movie to get much of her. She cares about her brother and is sweet like that but otherwise there is not much.

*** This review may contain spoilers *** When a film starts with a premise that is both legally and technically incorrect (that you'd have to go to a hospital where someone may or may not have died to retrieve a death certificate)then you know that you are in trouble. When you have then have to believe that someone would have to commit a a series of felonies just to get something which is readily available at any state's department of vital records (for a small fee) then you know that the film you are watching is a dog. This is very little suspense in this film and almost no real "horror." The "disturbing scenes" are actually quite tame in comparison to most films out on the market. And the protagonist and his cohort are not interesting enough to distract the viewer from the numerous inconsistencies and plot holes which which this film is replete.Other than to see the always exceptional Eliza Dushku in form-fitting clothing and perhaps to enjoy a vintage Cadillac convertible being shown, there's really nothing here to recommend this film. It's another dull and forgettable low budget offering whose trailer is far more interesting than its entirety.

What a DUD!! This movie is un-watchable. The plot is impossible to follow and makes no sense at all. The dismal execution between the high school quality plot-direction and a flat out failure at "scary" are the proverbial "nails in the coffin" for this movie. Actually, calling it a movie, does an injustice to the word "movie". The characters act as if they were just thrown into the mix. Poor direction is an understatement. Which brings up the question of how this movie ever got made? Makes you wonder if there was any adult oversight - its truly that bad! The other questions that beg asking is how did the actors ever accept these roles? What were they thinking (or were they)? And, were they that desperate - or was greed the motivating factor? In my opinion, for the actors and director, this is career ending material, or at best, definitely career changing (for the worse). This one will more than likely be lining the discount bin of your local dollar store in the not to distant future. Final question - how do I get my money back?

I have to say that this was the best horror movie made in an asylum ever. I love it so much it is beyond scary. I might not be like the other two people who reviewed this but the writer is amazing and on point with this one and the director did a great job with this. The actors are also perfect for their parts. Both, Eliza Dushku and Chance Crawford play their role immensely well. Eliza has it already from her constant acting skills in different movies but she was amazing in the one and only BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER. She was an insane character but this role fits her perfectly. She does not seem to be fake in any of her acting like most horror movies the female characters do not act well and they end up showing a very fake vibe but Eliza shows her skills brilliantly and does not do flinch. As for Chance, I have not seem him in a horror movie. I have only seen him as the preppy spoiled boy in Gossip Girl but wow!! He does a great job too and you can feel the tension between the two characters together. Not to mention the best of the best: Robert Patrick; damn what an actor. It is funny in an amazing scary way. He was one of those actors that does action with no emotion well he also does horror with no emotion too; it can be funny but the movie for me was scary as hell. Hell of a good movie.
