Disturbing yet enthralling

It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.

The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.

A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.

I don't mean to sound ageism here but, it's just that the two girls look rather older then high school students. They should've gotten two young actresses who are still studying at secondary school. It would make the film stand out better and the fact, it fits the story here.I also thought the film looked unfinished, especially the ending when the pair of them just called the relationship off. It's not really the best ending ever like it didn't have to be happily ever after, yet the film still let me down regardless. As another reviewer said here, there really isn't better talent involved here. It just was disappointing, boring and pretty dull to be honest....

"Empty Sky" is a 9-minute live action short film from 5 years ago written and directed by J. Michael Vargas. It deals with 2 girls who fall in love, but run into difficulties because of that. Music plays an important role in their relationship apparently, but it never felt authentic, just pretentious. And there was another major problem. The actresses are way too old to play high school characters. They may be hot and there is some solid girl-on-girl action in here for a moment, but that does not make up for the lack of a realistic or authentic story. There are certainly more short films with boys when it comes to depiction of homosexuality and many of these aren't good sadly. This one here isn't good either. I cannot recommend it. Thumbs down.
