RipDelight This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.
Odelecol Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
Teddie Blake The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
Cheryl A clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.
nicholls_les If you like overly violent for the sake of being overly violent movies then you Will like this. But everything about it is silly. The plot, the acting, the so called action. It is all over the top nonsense. What puzzles me is why an intelligent and good actress like Salma Hayek wanted to do this movie in the first place? I now find it hard to say anything else but no doubt have to follow this incredibly silly ten line rule. Why doesn't IMDb end that stupidity. A short pithy review is always better in my humble opinion.
Leofwine_draca Very few films make me cringe due to their sheer ineptitude, but EVERLY is such a film. It combines absolutely horrid direction - by a guy who did WRONG TURN 2 and who can't decide on whether he wants to make a serious action flick or a comic book style piece of hyper-entertainment - and a terrible script by a guy who thinks substituting proper dialogue for expletive-laden inanity is the way to make a film sound good. Wrong, buddy. It's a pity, because the premise is one I'd enjoy if done correctly: a woman is assailed in her apartment by a Yakuza gang intent on wiping her out. But the problems pile up from the word go, particularly with the extremely embarrassing scenes of the female prostitutes/assassins early on. Most directors tell their performers to tone down their performances, but the non-actors here go over the top for all their worth, leading to some awful moments. In addition, we get another non-performance from a clearly out-of-her-depth Salma Hayek, who's never been much of an actress and who flounders in a lead role. Still, the cameraman is more interested in shooting down her top than trying to capture any kind of real emotion from her. There's a lot of action here, and some sadism, but it's mostly dire, and the single location style set-up is done better in B-movies such as SUSHI GIRL. Occasionally it has moments of worth - the sub-plot with Togo Igawa promises a few moments of TOKYO GORE POLICE-style surrealness, and Akie Kotabe is very good - but overall EVERLY is a disastrous attempt at film-making.
junfrancistalanrd I like action movies that's why maybe i like this movie. Oh man i love the way it is done because maybe Salma is hot and can roll. The numerous death scenes are great and Salma spends the movie showing off her fantastic body and thats a win win for all of us. So, in a nutshell, if you like looking at Mamacita's like Salma and lots of blood and death then 'give it a go. I don't think this movie was made to be taken seriously.Yes its written perfectly and some of the acting are even enough for enjoyment. Honestly i enjoyed and looks entertaining to me. What are movies made for? So accept the way how it is being made. Cheers enjoy!
grantss Has its moments but mostly quite unoriginal and mediocre.A woman, Everly (played by Salma Hayek), is attacked in her apartment by a gang of thugs. She manages to turn the tables on them but a crime boss is determined to make her pay for this, sending wave after wave of assassins. Soon she is not just fighting for her own life, but those of her mother and daughter too...Well, that's what I could ascertain about the plot. It really is all over the place, plot-wise. The storyline, for what there is, seems quite contrived and nonsensical and is really just a device for a series of action scenes. The action scenes aren't that bad, but ultimately it all seems predictable and unoriginal. Like a bad ripoff of a Tarantino movie, if Tarantino didn't believe in plot and character depth.Salma Hayek must have been desperate to do this. Though, maybe on paper it seemed like a good movie... This said, she is about the only reason to watch this movie.
