Rio Hayward All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
Billy Ollie Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
wootenwriter I picked this up in a bargain bin at Goodwill. I am somewhat of a fan of the straight to video work of the 80's/early 90s. Most of that stuff is junk, but Feast was so much better than any of that genre. The lead characters are a film producer, lawyer and psychologist, who as the title states, feast on people in various ways. It's very funny, clever and original, which makes this work so much better than anything of that genre that I've seen to date. Porn queen Sharon Mitchell, who plays the psychologist, does some nudity, but not any real sex. Her performance is actually quite good. Chuck Gavoian, who is the film producer, is outstanding as a greasy psychopath who happens to make very good films. I highly recommend Feast if you have a hankering for low budget experimental films....
andrew_larrison Whatever you do, don't come to Feast with no expectations. The gore and acting may be better than the usual for this level of movie (as another comment pointed out), but its pretty bad by any other standard. The script is about what you'd expect from the porn industry. It is worth noting that this film was made in 1992, but has the feel, look, hair, pacing, and "action" of the two previous decades' T.V. dramas combined. On the plus side, there is a lot of nudity, and it is nice to see some healthy and natural looking pornstars for a change. It is hard to judge a movie by any criteria when it is in a category of its own, but it is safe to say that only a unique appetite will be fully sated by Feast.
kristagreens My ex-boyfriend kept talking about this movie so I pulled it off the shelf and viewed it. Now I've seen very many low budgets that I really didn't expect much but this film blew me away. The plot was really very, very good and the dialogue was really excellent. That is what is usually so bad about low budget films...the dialogue is terrible. But in this case, the writers wrote a witty, precise script and the actors, by and large, really did an excellent job delivering it. More importantly, Feast was really an inventive flick and that, to me, is so important and what p***es me off about most low budgets. They are 60k versions of multi-million dollar movies. Why would I want to see that. Feast was something that no studio would touch because it was inventive and didn't follow any formula. That's what prompted me to write. I wish I could talk to the director and writers and I hope more lowbudget film makers view it. It had problems but it was still ome of the very best low budgets I've seen.
edgein15 Now this flick was a pleasant surprise. After watch the feculent VAMPIRE CALL GIRLS, which was distributed by the same company, I had low, low, low expectations. But this film was decent on virtually every level. Two buddies in the film business are cannibal serial killers with a taste for young actresses. One of the killers is plagued by guilt and begins seeing a psychiatrist (played by porn actress Sharon Mitchell). However, the psychiatrist has a few secrets of her own. William Smith shows up for a few scenes, looking like he was just released from the Jan Michael Vincent Rehab Center. Other than that, this film really impressed me because although the budget was miniscule, the gore effects and acting were several notches higher than what I expected. It's rare to see a level of professionalism attained in a cheapie horror film like this. One word of warning, though: Ron Jeremy DOES make a cameo.
