EssenceStory Well Deserved Praise
BootDigest Such a frustrating disappointment
Gurlyndrobb While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.
Cheryl A clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.
bgar-80932 I watched this movie because I'm a big Charlie Day fan even after seeing how dumb the premise looked. It was really dumb but had a few moments. Basically one teacher (Ice Cube) flips out and chops a students desk in half with an axe and the other teacher (Charlie Day) ratted on him to keep his job. From then on Ice Cube was saying he was going to fight Charlie after school and Charlie was trying to figure a way out of that fight. Horrible premise but if there were some more laughs in it it wouldn't matter. I probably would have gave it a 3 but I liked the actual fight at the end and there were some laughable moments there but that was about it throughout the film. It's a shame because they loaded up the supporting cast with some funny people but never gave them a chance to be funny. In the right roles Jillian Bell and Tracy Morgan can be very funny but weren't in this. It's only 90 minutes though and like I said the actual fight was kinda funny and entertaining so it's not the worse comedy I've seen.
riteshk-71503 I can't believe I watched the whole movie. Frankly this movie sucks. The story in itself is very poorly written, no plot just random pranks, filled with the unwanted use of abusive language. Acting was also not good. Better to skip this one in my opinion.
alexnachos Now I've never in my 30 years of life felt compelled to write a review about anything good or bad, but dear god I felt it was my duty as a human being to sign up for this site so I can warn anyone who might read this in the future: STAY AWAY!I'm pretty easy to please. I'll admit I can enjoy any Sandler or Tyler Perry movie, or an episode of the Big Bang Theory. So don't think I'm holding this movie to any type of snobby standard. I've seen plenty of bad movies in my time but this one goes way beyond.I thought c'mon what's the worst that could happen? I mean it's got Charlie Day from the hilarious It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Ice Cube and Jillian Bell who were great in 22 Jump Street, Tracy Morgan from the modern classic 30 Rock. How can you go wrong? Well I don't know how but this movie makes them all not just unfunny but completely unlikable and manages to achieve a level of bad I never knew existed. I had to force myself asleep halfway through to save myself any further pain. It's not that the gags don't land, there's just not even attempts at humor. It's like instead of jokes we can have a penis drawing and everyone can say f*** every other word. They could've bought a box of popsicles and used the jokes on the sticks and it would have been 100x funnier. Maybe if you are 8 years old and this is your first R-rated movie but even then I would think you'd have better taste. How does this get made? Why did no one stop it? How can we protect ourselves and our children from ever experiencing this kind of assault on the human psyche? The type of movie to make me really question everything I thought I knew about comedy and if I even want to continue living. This movie makes 2 Broke Girls look like The Hangover. If I can save even just one person the agony I felt watching this, this review will have been worth it. Please trust me I'm trying to help you!
Reno Rangan The first feature film for a television director. He did not get the best cast, but best among the second string. Charlie Day's first lead I'm seeing. I mean not like, among other big stars he used to do the roles. Yes, there are like Ice Cube in the film, but the whole narration was presented from the Charlie's viewpoint. This story needed strong voice, but he had none. You may get annoyed for that, but that's the first fun side of the tale. Charlie Day versus Ice Cube! This kind of combination is not new, but decently used to tell the story. I like Cube in comedies than the serious roles.Well, it's not about the story, it's just a one day event. The final day of the school and a tough day for all. Because some of the staffs were fired from the job, the students' misconduct peaked, it's totally a messy day. The English teacher, Campbell, gets into a fight for going against his co-staff. So the day goes on as the countdown begins for their most anticipated fight at the final bell of the school. The preparation for that and all other craziness take place before the finale. When the film started, it was like any other B movie, very familiar atmosphere and predictable. Once the second half kick-started, I felt it was getting better. And the climax was even better. So, it ended strongly, after a so-so opening. Till that end, I did not think it deserved a decent respect, but at the end a better one. With this kind of cast and thematic, the film was much better. Really a well made, nothing more than on the entertainment perspective. So, if that's your sole purpose to watch a film, then this is the right one. Go for it. A much better film than the rating it had received. #TeachersFight7/10
