Johnny H. Flash Gordon is rip-snorting B-Grade fun, and as much fun as you could possibly ask for. This film is a nostalgic blast made at a time when Star Wars took the world by storm; so Universal decided to 1-Up Lucas by making a movie of the very comic that inspired the basis for 'A Galaxy Far, Far Away' in the first place.Colourful, over-the-top, catchy music from Queen, and action-sequences that still make for a jolly-good time for anyone watching the movie. Part-superhero-movie, part-space-opera, part swashbuckler, all-awesome.

leplatypus This could be the 3rd movie I watched on screen after Space cat and Episode V… If I miss all the excitement from its sticker album I got too, honestly I can't remember it clearly and watching today the DVD, I understand why! It's just awful !! OK at 7 tears old in 1981, I couldn't really imagine something else but honestly with my adult vision, everything is a disaster: the opening title is worthy of actual Marvel, DC but right after, this outer space people who have a bridge in English seems so dumb! Next the story was boring as ever and the pace just a sleeping pill! Sure all the production is colored and vivid but after a while, it's too kitsch and really insulting: There is no money here and my school plays were even better than this cheap production! The special effect are just terrible and a shame for a major motion picture! The Queen songs are just overrated (see my title!).. Maybe the cast was cool and the rewind erase memory was original (and well done!) but honestly too much is too much and I couldn't get farther than the green planet and even at x32 it seems worse! For all of you who thinks it's a cult movie that you keep watching, I really want to see you and your living!

marynjenkins I remember seeing this movie a long time ago, and thought that Ornella Muti had the most beautiful eyes in the world. A bit like the Italian version of Sharon Stone, with her mystique elegance, and her cat eyes. Somehow this movie, even though it seeming a bit corny and outdated in today's computerized universe, it still seems to stand its own. In its day, this movie was the party film of the 1980's Rock scene, which has its own place in everybody's heart, that remembers those days of the crazy colorful 80's. With the classic wonderful music by Queen, and the powerful voice of Freddie Mercury, this film will always remain as one of those 1980's classic.

bent-mathiesen This movie is hilarious 'bad', but in the best way.From the opening this movie is hilarious bad/funny/good. It is so because Ming is told that the planet he will attack is "Earth" and on the control panel is a button for "Earthquake" - a button that only makes sense if you know Earth and attack Earth. Any serious movie would have made a button "Planet quake" :)All effects are similar - just enjoy it. Nothing explained. Watching this movie from 1980 now makes it so much funnier, as you can reflect upon many of the newer science fiction movies, that actually perform worse, despite all the perfect effects as none of them have proper acting and much too serious but still lack logic.In this movie our heroes drops directly into Emperors Mings world, have no idea where they are, but in no time runs around and manage to organize a fight to save earth in the very last second. All Aliens speaks perfect English and Ming gets a nice big stick through his body. Nice to see his blood is green, and his daughters is red.
