With a world full of movies to choose from... despite the alluring title... don't bother Now the silly IMDb program is telling me I need ten lines or my review won't appear. Isn't THAT special. Not only that I can't use junk words. Back to the movies. It is not a very good movie. Your time is better spent elsewhere. IMDb. I'm in IMDb. That should tell you something. Ever since it became dead cheap and technically EASY to make a movie, all sorts of trash has turned up.So, get your friends, get a camera and have at it. Your efforts will probably be a lot sadder than Four Dogs Playing Go Fish. It is not easy to make a good movie. Believe me. It's not even easy to write a good, short review and leave it at that. Such is life. Reminds me, Ned Kelly with Orlando Bloom and whatsisname was great. He's barely dead and already I can't remember Heath Ledger's name. Also, see him in Casanova.. really good.

"Four Dogs Playing Poker" is an inept attempt to develop interest in a quintet of lame international art thieves who rip off a valuable statuette, proceed to lose it (duh) and then have to retrieve it or risk being whacked by their unhappy objects d'art customer. It is very obvious early on that this film just doesn't have much talent behind the lens as it is even more obvious in what it is trying to do and more obvious still in its failure to do it. One of those awful flicks where some capable actors in need of direction provide more drama by sinking helplessly into a mucked up mess of a movie than they do by delivering the film's story, "For Dogs..." is for the dogs. (C-)

The idea of this movie is brilliant and it could have led the script towards a totally different perspective of the action. Although some scenes are obviously forced, and higly unlikely, the movie captures you till the end. The dilema, the game to decide the killer and the victim, could have provided much more psychological moments than it actually does, and that would have made the movie better. Unfortunately, after the middle of the film, it becomes a simple action movie with simple and way too predictable events. All in all, a good idea, a nice watch, but it's a pity - it could have been great. Vote: 5 out of 10.

I gave this one a shot, lured by the text on the cover that this flick would be like mix of the two very good above mentioned films. Not at all in my opinion. I think the plot is very cheaply worked out. The '4 dogs' could have found their way out of the situation more easily than making up this stupid idea about life insurances. I found the acting very poorly too, except maybe for Tim Curry.All in all not worth the time or money.
