Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.

A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

I watched this movie with the thought that it would be a good opportunity for me to see a story about people I had less in common with. It turned out to be a story about people who I was all too familiar with, which was devastating. Real people with real struggles in the real world.

Based on the true story of Oscar Grant (played by Michael B. Jordan), a man who was shot by a policeman while he was handcuffed and lying face down."Fruitvale Station" dramatizes the 24 hours leading up to the shooting, showing us two sides of Jordan: the hot tempered, ex-convict; and the loving father, boyfriend, and son who is trying hard to live a regular life and not go back to drug dealing which could land him in prison again. The inner struggle of Jordan is easily conveyed to the audience, thanks to the exceptional talents of actor Michael B. Jordan, whose expressive eyes easily give away his inner thoughts and feelings. Jordan's lightning fast temper is also a frightening thing to behold, giving the audience a clue of one reason why things went bad so fast.My most memorable, movie moment is the actual cell phone video of the seconds leading up to the shooting, shown at the beginning of the movie."Fruitvale Station" is a completely engrossing movie that gives the audience a glimpse of the injustice that young, black males sometimes suffer at the hands of certain police officers; and how a bad situation can quickly become deadly when two groups of hotheads get into an argument.Mannysmemorablemoviemoments

Well, let me see, to the critics of this film, this is not a documentary, it is a film. Did Coogler take artistic license? Of course! Was Grant a choir boy, certainly not! But the film is an artistic and cultural achievement that should be recognized. We live in neither a just or fair society. Anyone who argues differently is either ignorant or a fool. The beauty of our society is that we can argue about it. There are many places in the world where you cannot. In a very even handed way, the film portrays a somewhat troubled ghetto kid who is trying to get his life together. Coogler does a masterful job of portraying Grant as a multifaceted character. I think he succeeds. It is important to understand that cops are indeed human and have emotions and short fuses like many of us. They also have license to use lethal force. And when they do, they can act in devastating and unlawful ways. The key message of this movie is that cops can unwittingly snuff out lives for no valid reason. People often forget that the function of police is to maintain order and apprehend offenders. It is not to punish them. That is the job of the courts and the penal system. When a cop becomes an executioner, he has overstepped his authority. I think we have lost sight of this basic tenant of our society. This film tries to make us aware of that. Last year police killed over 1100 people in the U.S. using lethal force. In the U.K., it was 10. In Japan it was 1.On a personal note, I work a mile or two from this BART station. I ride BART regularly. One of my sons was at Fruitvale Station returning from a party just after Grant was shot. If my son had left his party ten minutes earlier, it could have been him on the platform. The only difference is my son is white. This film is too close to home.

I absolutely love this movie. Honestly, I didn't know anything about Oscar Grant until I saw this movie.Positives:1. Michael B. Jordan plays Oscar Grant with effectiveness2. All of the actors in this movie feel like real people3. The directing in this movie is effective and tremendous4. The cinematography really sets the tone and it sucks you in5. The movie moves kind of slow while feeling fast paced at the same time6. Every scene in this movie feels necessary (absolutely nothing needs to be taking out or changed)7. There's humanity in this movie (example, in life we are the main characters in our own worlds; people come into our lives, they enter, and some exit; some people may change your life and it may effect you forever8. The last 15 minutes or so made me cry (I don't cry very often, especially during movies, but I felt the pain, I felt the heartache, the emotions felt real, the grieving was real, and the loss hits homeNegatives:Honestly, I can't think of any negatives for this movie, and that's very rare for meThe only negative thing is the police. The officer claims to have been reaching for his taser, but he accidentally reached for his gun, and he shot unarmed Oscar Grant in the back. The officer did go to prison, but he only got 11 months. A lot of people in the community claim that there is no justice in the justice system. Some officers get to do what they won't with no real consequences. Some people feel that police are their own gang. Some officers terrorize people and inflict fear. The police are meant to serve and protect their citizens. People are starting to die and the world is noticing that there is a chain happening here. Black communities are suffering because they don't feel safe in their own communities. civilization has evolved and we have access to more things. The accidental shooting of Grant was recorded on numerous cameras. Witnesses were around and apparently the police felt that they could do what they wanted. I don't know much about the current issues happening in the black communities; I am a black male, but I have not experienced any intentional racism myself. I'm glad that this movie was made. This movie can shed some light on the current issues we are facing.Overall, I absolutely fu*king love this movie; this movie is definitely worth checking out.Final Grade: A+
