Synopsis

Marine biologist Jack Ellway and his son Brandon are drawn to the Polynesian island of Malau to study the effects of recent seismic activity on the area's marine life. Along with the local doctor Alyson Hart, they soon become caught up in the investigation of a series of recent drownings with unexpected results. As Jack explores the surrounding ocean for a mysterious marine creature, Brandon discovers and befriends a three-foot-long baby creature that is able to leave the ocean and walk on land. As more dangerous and giant creatures come onto the island, and the military begins to take offensive action, Jack must risk everything to save the creatures, the island and his son. TrueJoshNight Truly Dreadful Film
Matcollis This Movie Can Only Be Described With One Word.
Softwing Most undeservingly overhyped movie of all time??
Sharkflei Your blood may run cold, but you now find yourself pinioned to the story.
leavesonline What can I say? This is another example of a movie so bad that it's good. The plastic monsters are shameful, the characters are less than one-dimensional, the science is flawed beyond belief (as a scientist I have low expectations of movies, but this was ridiculous - how exactly are they taking soil samples from an oceanic trench?!) and the emotionally charged sub-plot as boy and monster both confront the loss of their mothers, well, breathtaking...The most remarkable thing about this movie, barring the surreal way that the slimy Australian skipper is attributed to be a New Zealander, is the sheer amount of effort the actors put in. The scene where Adam Baldwin mourns the death of the plastic monster is spectacular and Bobby Hosea throws his heart and soul into the role as the understanding and competent marine colonel. It's always so comforting when such rubbish is presented with that much enthusiasm.Get some friends together, get some alcohol and treat this as a comedy but whatever happens, don't try to watch it seriously!
running__blind This movie is amazing. Everyone go see it. Now.Emile Hirsch is what makes it amazing, by the way. It's kind of like E.T, only it's not an alien, but a mutant salamander... and this movie is much better.Emile Hirsch, who plays Brandon, does an extremely spectacular job in this movie and even at his young age, he's perfect.Perfect.Yeah, really perfect..'Casey', the little guy, is pretty cute. I like when he blinks. It's rad.Anyone notice how many times Emiles voice cracks in the movie? ...of course you didn't, because no one that writes reviews for this movie likes it. Geh.I suppose this isn't really a review, is it? No. I guess not. It's just me talking about Emile and his greatness. That deserves to be discussed though. Don't argue with me. It does. He's better than you in every way. Deal!
Crab_Nebula If you're looking for a movie that will move you, make you laugh, cry, thrill you, scare you, and shake you to the core of your being - THIS ISN'T IT!Wow. Such a clunker. I knew it was going to be horrible - that was why I watched it. With that in mind, I loved it! The only truly good thing about it was Adam Baldwin. The other actors all generally sucked, and the Outstanding Sucking Award goes to the son, whoever played him, I can't be bothered to go back and check the name. His acting was horrible, and his voice annoying. Some credit, however, must be given to the writers, who gave him the awful lines and the terrible parallel to the baby creature who had also lost its mother. WHAT A SHOCK! I WAS SO STRUCK TO LEARN ABOUT THE AMAZING CONNECTION HE HAD WITH THE CREATURE!The creatures were so truly awful as to remind me of the original Star Trek series, and the plot was obviously contrived after the writers had watched Jurassic Park, then Godzilla, and then gotten heavily drunkIt was a wonderful movie to watch and insert lines into (think Mystery Science Theatre), and Adam Baldwin was at least competent, even if his lines sucked too, and he's always nice to look at. If you're looking for a great clunker, this is it! I was well pleased with what it is.
kublakhan13-1 This movie was pretty awful but I must say that I've seen many movies that were much, much worse. Remember Jaws 4 where the shark actually ROARED?After reaing some of these reviews I was half expecting to see Bela Lugosi pop up and say "pull da string!" I'll give it a 4 out of 10.
