ChicRawIdol A brilliant film that helped define a genre
Aneesa Wardle The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
Hayleigh Joseph This is ultimately a movie about the very bad things that can happen when we don't address our unease, when we just try to brush it off, whether that's to fit in or to preserve our self-image.
Paul Magne Haakonsen While I can't really claim to be a big fan of Keanu Reeves, then I will admit that he does have some good movies to his resume. So with that in mind I sat down to watch "Generation Um...".And I made it just about 20 minutes into the movie before I tossed in the towel and gave up. I got up and turned it off, bored out of my mind and senses. "Generation Um..." was one of the most slow-paced and uneventful movies that I have ever seen. And I had absolutely no desire to witness more of it after having endured a 20 minute ordeal of it.Not even a talent such as Keanu Reeves was able to salvage this train wreck of a movie. From what I saw of the movie, then I reckon that it was a story about a love triangle or something like that. But I can't claim to care of any of the characters nor having any interest in what I had witnessed on the screen during the 20 minutes I managed to sit through.I will never know the meaning of this movie or find out how it will progress beyond those dreadful 20 minutes, because "Generation Um..." just failed to impress or entertain me on all levels. What it was that director Mark Mann wanted to achieve with this movie I have absolutely no clue about, and I will never known either. His vision with "Generation Um..." was just one that never reached out to grab a hold of me.I would assume that hardcore fans of Keanu Reeves might get a kick out of this movie, but for everyone else, your time, money and effort is better spent elsewhere. Trust me.
Claudio Carvalho "Generation Um..." is a pretentious shallow film about nothing. The pointless plot is about the lives of three uninteresting persons that live in New York: John (Keanu Reeves) is an unemployed guy and small-time thief and pimp. The Call-girl Violet (Bojana Novakovic) is a promiscuous drug addicted woman that has slept with at least two hundred men and three women. The call-girl Mia (Adelaide Clemens) is a disturbed woman that saw her father kicking the belly of her pregnancy mother that aborted a baby girl. Violet shags John and Mia and she are best friends. On the day of his birthday, John steals a video-camera and makes footage in the Central park and interviewing Violet and Mia. Then the girls go to a bachelor party. My vote is two.Title (Brazil): "Sem Destino" ("Without Destiny")
pc95 This dud, "Generation Um" holds a bit of interest in the beginning for the first 20 or 30 min up until the director/writer decides to film a movie about Keanu Reeves filming young women doing things like peeing. This movie is base, vapid and completely devoid of plot. It lacks any narrative or integrity, and was terrible to watch even through fast- forwarding over half the runtime. We'd like stories without featuring creepy stalking weirdos making home movies of 20 something angst-filled disturbed young women whose lives are all in flux. Director Mark Mann has failed in his story by removing Reeves from any active part in the movie. This movie is easily the worst movie I've seen of 2013. There probably are worse movies, but I haven't nor do I want to endure them.
David Cooper This defined my life in so many levels, I don't live his exact life, no. But the dullness, borderline, bored, nothing there but 'Are you still talking' personality is. Creativity sucks, (like the movie)plots don't stick, I can not create anything that is or should be close to being called film worthy. This is what becomes my trash. It feels like I picked up the camera and gave a high time actor My life to film what I do. I'm not okay with it. It's mundane, it's terrible, even the character himself said: 'Maybe you should say something interesting.' It makes me angry and disgusted by this generation..whatever the hell you call it...um. Yes, it's true, yes I see what you did there. Yes, I would give it a higher rating normally for being real - as I should say great real life acting. Story sucks but what can I say, that was the meaning of the story right? To depict real life. This movie wasn't for me.
