Taraparain Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.
slayrrr666 "Girl Slaves of Morgana Le Fay" is a fine if somewhat unspectacular entry.**SPOILERS**Traveling through the French countryside, friends Françoise, (Mireille Saunin) and Anna, (Michele Perello) wind up lost and are forced off the road. Staying over-night in an abandoned inn, she wakes up to find herself alone, and when Gurth, (Alfred Baillou) arrives, she is sent off to a nearby castle where Morgane, (Dominique Delpierre) resides, telling her of what happened to her friend. Eventually, she comes to realize that she is the leader of a group of witches who use human blood to ensure their own immortality, the process turning them into slaves who do her bidding, and that she is the next chosen one to join the coven. When this angers Yael, (Regine Motte) Sylviane, (Ursule Pauly) and Sarah, (Nathalie Chaine) they agree to sabotage the indoctrination ceremony to protest the change and try to make her see how useful they are to her instead. The News: This one definitely wasn't all that bad and had some good points to it. The fact that it has some really nice amount of nudity that really sticks out nicely. There's a lot of really good nude scenes in here, as the film begins with the right note with the slow-crawl up one women who's completely nude all the way up to the top, and after a lengthy conversation about her heretical ways, is dragged off. It's a fun way to open the film with what's going to be expected. There's also the film's best sequence, where the indoctrination ceremony requires all the women to go about in a sexual frenzy, and it just breaks down into a gigantic lesbian orgy, complete with tons of rubbing, kissing, licking and much more going on in an extreme detail. It's a lot better than expected and really didn't feel all too different from the other kind of erotic sequences that the rest of the film featured. That it goes fully nude and showcases everything in complete display offers up a lot of sleaze potential as well, getting to see everything that's possible and really getting a good look at it works wonders. The first scene with her at the castle, where the two slaves are going at it and the third one joins in only because someone told them too and then it goes all-out in the sleaze stakes which is really fun and generates a good scene. There's also a rather pronounced lesbian vibe that races through the first half, from the tender and erotic moments of them in the barn at the beginning that isn't very explicit at all to the later scenes where she's taken under the wing and included into the cult at the castle, with the way that everything seems to be completely lesbian in overall vibe and feeling without coming out and putting the label on it, making for some nice scenes. The film also has some really nice atmosphere early on with the car drive through the backwoods area being pretty creepy. The fact that it takes place at night through their vision using only the headlights as the only thing producing any visibility for the sequence, and their conversation and the creepy trees being highlighted make it a really enjoyable sequence. There's a couple problems with it, though, as the film doesn't seem as dirty as it could be. There's no violence whatsoever in the film, despite the fact that a little bit wouldn't have hurt it at all. The lone death occurs by stumbling across it after being done off-screen, and that would've worked for injecting some gore or some blood into the proceedings. Also, the nudity doesn't seem as bad as it should've been, since there's only a couple times where it features something, with the majority of the time being about showcasing them in frilly dresses without showing anything too explicit at times. This is due to the film's other mild flaw, the rather slow-going beginning that isn't all that exciting. It's quite boring for the majority of the time, not really doing much and staying quite dull for the first half. It does pick up slightly in the second half, but it's still not all that exciting in the first half, and constitutes the film's real flaws. The Final Verdict: While not as graphic in any respect as most exploitation films normally are, this one was a pleasant enough entry to serve some worth. Give it a shot if you're in need of a film that does what this offers or are a fan of the European-sleaze market, otherwise heed caution with it.Rated UR/R: Full Nudity, several sex scenes and Language
Anthony Pittore III (Shattered_Wake) Synopsis: Two sexy French twentysomethings, Françoise (Mireille Saunin) and Anna (Michéle Perello), come across a dilapidated castle which houses an evil (I guess) witch, Morgane Le Fey (Dominique Delpierre); her team of hot Girl Slaves; and her random huchbacked dwarf minion, Gurth (Alfred Baillou). The witch captures Françoise and Anna and forces them to decide: become Morgane's immortal sex slaves. . . or rot (as ugly old women) in the witch's dungeon for eternity.Review: 'Girl Slaves of Morgana Le Fay' is probably one of THE most frustrating erotic horrors I've ever seen in my life. Much of the 'erotic' part of the film is gorgeous French girls (mostly redheads) making out, touching, etc., but most of those scenes only last for a minute or two, or they're intercut with random shots of creepy Gurth's face. And, let me tell you, when you're in the mood for an erotic horror film about hot French witch slaves, you do not want to be seeing Gurth, who looks like Zelda from Pet Sematary. The film is very aptly done. The direction and writing are surprisingly good in comparison to some of the other 70s erotic horrors. The acting isn't too shabby, either. It does get boring at times, especially during the random interpretive dance scenes (?). It's mostly, however, a classically done erotic fantasy-horror. Unlike many films like this, it actually works well as a real story & film. . . even if you removed all of the eroticism.Final Verdict: 6/10.
EVOL666 I applaud Mondo Macabro for restoring these "lost" exploitation "classics" - and GIRL SLAVES is another suitable entry. I can't say that I've absolutely LOVED any of the MM releases that I've seen so far - but they've all been various degrees of entertaining at least...This one revolves around 2 girls (Francoise and Anna) who while traveling, get lost in a "twilight-zone-esque" village. They go to sleep in a barn after experiencing some car trouble, and when Fran wakes up, Anna is gone. A freaky dwarf guy leads Fran to a castle which is inhabited by some beautiful chicky's - including the mysterious Morgana. Seems that Morgana is a witch who can offer the travelers eternal life in return for their souls...but will they accept??? GIRL SLAVES is paced decently enough that you probably won't fall asleep during the proceedings - and there's a decent amount of 70's exposed-flesh on display. I can't really think of anything incredibly notable about the film, but it's another in a long string of well-made and entertaining 70's era exploit films. Definitely worth a look to the genre fan...7.5/10
movieman_kev Françoise and Anna, a couple on holiday, stop at a local tavern only to be weirded out by a dwarf. Upon leaving, they get lost as women are known to do and their car breaks down so they choose to spend the night in a barn. They makes out heavily before falling asleep, the next day Françoise awakes to find Anna missing. The dwarf is there and tells her that he knows where her friend is, leads her to the castle of one Morgana LaFey, an immortal witch who grants immortality to other young women in exchange for their souls. But it isn't long before jealously takes hold of the other girls. This film came as bit of a revelation to me in that I only bought it because the name and cover lept out at me, plus the fact that it was on sale didn't hurt in the least. It exceeded my expectations and I found it to be a heavily erotic, gripping, ambiance thick film. A minor lost classic that one would do well to seek out.Eye Candy: Every girl in the film shows various amounts of skin My Grade: B- Mondo Macabro DVD Extras: 3 Alternate & Deleted scenes; "Un Couple D'Artistes" Short film; 11 minute interview with Director Bruno Gantillon; poster & stills gallery; Theatrical trailer; and a VERY gory nudity filled compilation trailer including "French Sex Murders", "Living Doll", "Satanico Pandemonium", "Panic Beats", "Clonus", "the Killer must kill again", "the mansion of madness", "Alucarda", "the diabolical Dr. Z", "Aswang", "the Living Corpse", "Blood of the Virgins", "Seven women for Satan", "Lady Terminator", "Crazy love", "Mill of the stone women", & "Dangerous Seductress"
