Helloturia I have absolutely never seen anything like this movie before. You have to see this movie.
GL84 On the eve of her sixteenth birthday, a teenage girl finds that her reliving the same day over and over again makes for her preparation to fight a sadistic time-traveling serial killer that's targeting others like her and must race to stop him.For the most part this one here was quite the fun and original effort. Most of that works comes in the form of it's exceptionally creative and enjoyable premise, which is something that really relies on a seemingly new take on a rather familiar effort. The first half here is wholly appealing with the set-up of the day repeating over and over again for her and the different routines becoming the norm that once this one devolves into the haunting notions of a ghost possibly in the house the tension is quite readily ramped up considerably. The numerous instances of things going bump in the house where there's plenty of creeks and groans let out, the thrilling Ouija game where she contacts the other side and the different scenes in the fog-enshrouded outdoors where the house is completely covered here makes for a thrilling series of scenes that come into play quite nicely with that strong premise to make this quite dark and chilling once the endgame is firmly established here in introducing the time-traveling murderer and his connection to their family. Including the strong scenes of her searching down in the basement where she meets a victim being burned to death in a huge chamber or the terrorizing family dinner sequence that throws in some rather outrageous visuals into the fray in order to really set up the film's phenomenal second-half where it goes into the chase in stopping the killer's rampage. By including the different time-jumps and body-switching all throughout here as it generates quite a fun bit of action within these scenes, there's plenty of fun to enjoy here as this one goes about the twisted nature of showing her being tormented by his actions and going after the families only for the end to really get the supernatural comeuppance in quite a chilling manner. Though this one gets in plenty of fun with this unique concept, it's also somewhat flawed here in that the story, for all it's uniqueness and creativity, is unbelievably incoherent and nonsensical. Not only is it nearly impossible to figure out what time-period in history that we're in because it just seems to randomly jump to one in order to suit the upcoming shock-scare devised of having the killer right around the corner, that manages to tie into the film's main running theme of being so utterly incomplete with it's own internal logic that it really falters here in selling this effectively. Not only are the time- jumps completely glossed over in terms of how they're accomplished, but the fact that it's so confusing about how they're able to possess bodies and perform other activities as these people is quite a long and troubled series of scenes that are nowhere to be found, all making this one really hard to keep track of at times. Otherwise, there's a lot to really like here.Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Violence, Language, minor smoking and themes of child death.
kaysild I am not sure why this doesn't have better reviews! I've seen Every scary/horror movie since the silent ones and I've gotta say this was very good. I was in edge of seat the whole time and my interest never wavered. It was suspenseful and different than every other boring monotonous movie made in last decade. Was nice to see something that was from a different perspective. I guess U could kinda compare to the lovely bones movie but honestly I didn't feel like it was too similar or anything. I liked it a lot. Didn't get up not once the whole movie. I give it 10 stars bc it deserves much higher than what's given. I don't do many reviews but this one deserved my time and I definitely would give it a Chance if you prefer more psychological than gory type scary movies. I was to think not see lots of blood.
rongoolie When I first sat down to watch this movie, I was thinking to myself 'Hey, this is probably going to be a lame low-budget horror movie. But it's only a couple days 'til Halloween, so watch it for fun and maybe have a laugh at the cheesy special effects, bad acting, etc." I admit I was wrong. This movie was absolutely awesome! I can't believe other users of this site only give this movie a 5.9 out of 10 (at the time I am writing this). The story was extremely well written. The Director did an outstanding job. Also, the acting was pretty good overall. Especially the acting of the main girl. As a matter of fact, I couldn't find anything wrong with it. It was perfect! So perfect that I'm going to have to buy myself a copy.
loomis78-815-989034 Teenager Lisa (Breslin) is literally repeating the same day over in over in the style of the film Groundhog Day. Her family in the house doesn't understand what she is saying and a thick fog surrounds her house not allowing her to leave. This time warp she is caught in also has an evil force in the scary vision of a Pale Man (McHattie) who keeps warning Lisa to leave things alone. Lisa soon discovers her level of reality can be broken as she warps into the body of a girl in the future named Olivia (Eleanor Zichy) who is trying to make contact with Lisa. Realizing that Olivia is actually contacting her spirit, Lisa realizes she is dead along with the rest of her family. She can still save Olivia from her fate in the future. Director Vincenzo Natali and Writer Brian King challenge the audience to keep up with this layered story as it unfolds through the eyes of young Lisa. The story is both clever and compelling and the movie plays out almost like a mystery. There are some shocks that deliver jump scares and a certain eerie feeling that Natali keeps for the entire film. Solid performances especially from lead Abigail Breslin makes this an engaging horror film that plays out well.
