Neive Bellamy Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.

sunsplash62 This movie strives to be a family comedy, but there isn't a laugh in it. The cast tries mightily by acting frantic and running around, but to no avail. Nonetheless, that doesn't mean this is not a fun film to watch, if you're in to Baby Boomer culture as I am. The cast is interesting and the cinematography features striking color. There is much underwater footage, as the film was made in cooperation with Miami's SeaQuarium, and the opening and closing credits cry out 1960s. The movie has a Disney quality about it and incorporates the emerging James Bond/computer/electronic gadget era. There are also some catchy bubblegum songs. Of the cast, Harvey Lembeck is wasted and Roddy McDowall is prissily annoying. The movie was filmed in 1968 and released in June 1969, but in style seems as if it was made two or three years earlier. Again, fun to watch, for the wrong reasons.

modern_fred This was fun back when it was released. Watching it now I find it even more delicious. It's a potent dose of 60s nostalgia. The Ivan Tors team did one comedy previous to this (Birds Do It with Soupy Sales), but here everything clicks into place. The excellent cast really helps keep this afloat- with sure-footed timing and affable charm. The production values are top-notch- with excellent effects and the sort of superb underwater action you would expect from the Tors team (Lamar Boren and Ricou Browning). The underwater house is great- it's everything I wanted from a house as a kid. Really quite ridiculous and all the better for it.

Guitar-8 A piece of adventure, a hip rock band and future stars, make up this recipe for Hello Down There.I was surprised that Richard Dreyfuss played a band member. He would go on to do many movies (including my personal favorite, Let It Ride). Charlotte Rae as Myrtle Ruth, fits her cup of tea, went on to Facts of Life. Let's not forget talk show host (and the man behind Jeopardy! when this movie aired), Merv Griffin. It's also one of the few movies that feature Jim and Henny Backus.I highly recommend this classic, but campy movie to anyone reading this comment.

iheardja "Hello Down There" is a fun musical with catchy tunes that have stuck in my head even after all these years. I remember checking the old TV Guide when I was just 7 or 8 years old to see when it was coming on, as they use to run it a lot in the early 70's on the late movie shows. My mom would often sit up with me and watch it as well. She passed away 5 years ago and I look back on that time with joy. What a fun cast and some of the actors that actually sing (and do pretty well) make this film worth watching. For the time, a lot of the underwater shots are awesome. It is a fun ride and, although dated, is very nostalgic. I bought myself a copy off of Ebay recently and shared it with my wife and I can't wait till my 6 week old daughter is old enough to watch it with her Dad.
