paulclaassen It is nice to see Ashley Lawrence form the original two films return to the franchise. I enjoyed Kirsty back and reference to the first film. This installment is essentially a murder mystery as detectives try to solve a missing person case. This is certainly much better than 3, 4 & 5 in the series. The storyline is unfortunately confusing due to constant dreams and hallucinations. Pinhead also only arrives an hour into the movie, and then disappears again for a bit only to return for the finale. Great twist ending. Dean Winters is very good in the role of Kirsty's husband, Trevor.

Stephen Abell After watching the dreadful Hellraiser - Inferno I was hoping this would be better... after all, it does have the return of Kirsty Cotton... but it's not.Trevor Gooden (Winters) wakes up in a hospital after a car accident in which his wife Kirsty (Laurence) drowns. Suffering headaches and realistic nightmares he also begins to notice that his life is a little less ordinary than it should be. Some things in his life have changed... and they keep changing on a daily basis... things are wrong... something is out there... something is getting closer...This, like Inferno, had possibilities, however, due to the direction of the story and the film we get another Thriller with Cenobites. Note I didn't say starring. Once again the Cenobites take a back seat to the thriller. There are two positives this film has over Inferno. One is that the story is less jarring and slightly better constructed... slightly... But it still has the same effect of harming the film and the performances the actors and actresses give. The second is that the director, Bota, instils a trickle of unease throughout the movie. It's just a shame that it doesn't quite make it to fear.The two major flaws that irked me the most were both to do with Kirsty. I just cannot imagine that she'd marry anybody like Trevor, not when you consider her past... and considering her past would she, once again, open the box and treat the Cenobites so antagonistically(?) This just isn't in her character... but hey, when should a story be shaped by a character, especially when a twist and reveal depends on it(?)Again, this film could have been better had more attention been paid to the characters and structure and with a few more Cenobites added into the mix.To be honest, this isn't as bad as Inferno, in fact, it's worth a watch. However, it's not a Hellraiser film and because of that, I would recommend you watch the original movies. They are so much better than this... in every Hellraising way.

Realrockerhalloween The triumphant return of Kirsty Cotton who has now been released from the sanitarium and moved on in her life with a husband named Trevor.On their anniversary he presents her with a golden cube that haunted her years before.During a car ride to call her nerves they are involved in a car crash and Trevor now must reclaim his memory and move on without his wife.I was a little underwhelmed at first since I wanted see more of Ashely going against her biggest nemeses and catch up to get ten years to see what her life was like. Still Trevor isn't bland with a rich history that's explored throughout from the many girls he cheated on his wife with, man he got around, to his work life and friends.I found pinhead very ominous here, appearing out of shadows and sending his minions to torment him through fantasy dreams playing on what is real or not.The style does follow the last film since it was another script not meant for this series, but a step down from the unique fresh take we already experienced.I didn't think Trevor's confusion was handled properly or his love for his wife he claims to have and they sabotaged Kirsty's character by making her a jilted wife out for vengeance by killing his mistresses. It didn't need to sabotage all the victims in order to make the villain the good guy you root for.Despite its shortcomings I found Pinhead to be back to his old self and hope he stays the same on my journey forward.

badfeelinganger The original Hellraiser was an innovative, twisted bit of filmmaking that stands up today as one of the great horror films. This one is certainly a mixed bag as it's quite watchable and has lots of screwy visuals; despite the fact it feels a little off-kilter and for the most part doesn't make much sense. What we get in HELLSEEKER is a series of events, where some kind of violence or demonic activity occurs, only for Trevor to wake, finding it was all a dream, or a hallucination. Sometimes we have him waking up after he has already awoken. Wow, dreams within dreams.All these non-events are supposed to be deep, showing us that Trevor isn't a nice guy,there are some interesting ideas (and I really like the tone they set in the opening, but it doesn't last); but it's only really for fans of the series.The other films in the series are: Hellraiser, Hellbound: Hellraiser II, Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth, Hellraiser: Bloodline, Hellraiser: Inferno, Hellraiser: Deader, Hellraiser: Hellworld.
