Janae Milner Easily the biggest piece of Right wing non sense propaganda I ever saw.
Michael Ledo The movie starts out as a 5 star horror-thriller. A man is ready to cut down a tree with an axe when he hears a dog barking near a frozen pond. He stops and walks yo the dog and out on the pond. In the middle is a silver metal covered tray. The words "come and see" are written in red on 4 trees around the pound. He opens the tray and... we cut to the next scene which includes a Dennis Quaid's naked butt taking a shower. It is like someone has read a book on how to make a horror film, but has never actually seen one. But then you realize this is not a horror movie at all. They never show the graphic torture or killing, just mostly naked mutilated corpses. After 2 killings, Quaid figures out it is ritualistic and related to the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse. Using forensics he makes deductions about the 4 killers and attempts to prevent 2 more murders. The movie includes Quaid's depressing home life as he alienates his two sons with his work. As the movie appears to hit its low point, Quaid gets quite an unexpected lead...from one of the killers!Ziyi Zhang (the babe from Rush Hour 2) was the highlight of the whole movie. No sex, no nudity to write home about, F-bombs and some graphic discussion of homosexual acts. Not a bad movie if you are not expecting a horror film.
mhcaesar Gosh darn it. If only Satan, you know, the Dark Lord, could be just a little less sadistic and cruel and more on the jovial, upbeat, positive side. Humans and their sick fetish with evil and all its' nasty habits. Case in point: Horsemen (2009).This movie is one sick puppy wanting to be put down. I agree with other reviewers comparing this "gem" to the movie, "7" and it is a fair though faint comparison. The only upside is watching veteran actor Dennis Quaid deliver his usual top notch performance in a role and a story that could have been better written and told. He deserved better. It really is a series of sad, sick, depressing Satanic sacrifice murder rituals framed around the Bible's Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Or, should we say....the Four Fish Hooks of the Apocalypse. The movie tries to walk us through the convoluted mirky plot to no avail. The really depressing aspect is the realization that so much money and talent was poured into this black hole of a confusing plot line leaving most, including myself, lost toward the end. A bad movie is a terrible thing to watch. It's 90-120 minutes of your life you'll never get back. Pity.
daniel-stewart13 If I had to sum this movie up in one word, that one word would be "wat".The plot is a good enough plot, similar to the amazing movie 'se7en' but the story just falls apart mid way through and turns into a film about a grumpy teen on internet forums, simply put it is a shoddy piece of dumbed-down cinema and isn't worth the time taken to view it.I'm greatly disappointed here and I do not recommend you waste your time on this drudge of a film, honestly, go watch Se7en, it's a similar premise and much, much better. The only thing going for this film is the acting from Dennis Quaid, not his best work but definitely carries the whole movie.
thwok I deliberated for a while trying to decide on a rating for this movie. In the end, I decided on a 7/10. The reason for giving it the last couple of points is definitely some credible acting. The movie stars Dennis Quaid as a burnt-out homicide detective whose wife is dead. He's investigating a string of deaths which seems to be inspired by the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse from the Book of Revelations. Quaid is estranged from his two sons because Quaid and the older son don't know how to cope with their grief. Lou Taylor Pucci does a good job as the older son.Quaid spends most of his time working instead of bonding with his children. Quaid's strength is in portraying his grief and his interactions with his son. He is not as effective at portraying a detective. The writers don't spend enough time showing Quaid actually doing the functions of his job to convince the audience. Ziyi Zhang is Quaid's prime suspect, and there are several interrogation scenes between the two of them. Zhang has the physical attributes to play a woman who uses her femininity to get men to do unspeakable things. Otherwise, her acting in not very convincing.Like other reviews of this movie have stated, "The Horsemen" shares several elements with other suspense movies which have handled these elements far more skillfully. Se7en and The Silence of the Lambs are two that come to mind. The movie doesn't fit together very well. Plot elements are introduced that are never fully developed. The connection between the people involved in the killings is not made clear. The effects in the movie are fine. Some interesting ideas and primarily credible acting earn "The Horsemen" an ambivalent 7 out of 10 points.
