Synopsis

The film is about the difficult situation in which the Pakistanis in particular and the Muslims in general are caught up since 9/11. There is a war going on between the Fundamentalists and the Liberal Muslims. This situation is creating a drift not only between the Western world and the Muslims, but also within the Muslims. The educated and modern Muslims are in a difficult situation because of their approach towards life and their western attire. They are criticized and harassed by the fundamentalists and on the other hand the Western world sees them as potential suspects of terrorism just because of their Muslim names.

Mjeteconer Just perfect...
2freensel I saw this movie before reading any reviews, and I thought it was very funny. I was very surprised to see the overwhelmingly negative reviews this film received from critics.
Usamah Harvey The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
Winifred The movie is made so realistic it has a lot of that WoW feeling at the right moments and never tooo over the top. the suspense is done so well and the emotion is felt. Very well put together with the music and all.
Abdul Malik KUDA KE LIYE is not a movie you see often, especially from the cinema which was on the verge of being shut down at the time it came out.To be honest it liberated the Pakistani cinema from vulgar culture and gave it a new life.It had all the ingredients to win an Oscar for best foreign language film and i don't know why it was not sent for Oscar race. The awards it won at several festivals i am sure it would have got attention. The story is very powerful. It tells no matter how liberal we become,we are blind when it comes to the religion, how are we sold at the name of religion.Acting is top notch.Shaan has proved why he is one of the finest actor of our generation.Iman Ali and Fawad Khan has also done a marvelous job and delivered career defining performances.Last but not least, the whole credit goes to Shoaib Mansoor. He has once proved his genius and has done excellent job as a director and as a writer. He has produced a movie every Pakistani can be proud of.
jai_balani I'm virtually a film critic and watch almost all the good and bad movies that fly by my eye. I have to say this is one of the best movies I have ever seen, it clearly depicts how each person has a different perspective and we all need to understand each others way of thinking before making decisions. Thanks to the whole team of Khuda kay liye for such a brilliant movie!!!! I recommend this movie to each and every person who believes in equality, humanity and a free world!! Do watch this movie and spread a word across this is a must watch. Also, hats off to the people of Pakistan for appreciating the beauty of this movie.
gaurav219 Seeing this movie quite late after its release in India i must say, this movie can be a good eye opener for Indians across India who are filled a lot of stereotypes about Pakistanis & Islam in Pakistan at large. Even Pakistan has well educated middle-class who are in the Western attire. However th' re caught in an identity crisis as to what to do in the post-Sept. 11 era. The're entangled in a web by fundamentalists n liberal thinkers. Here comes the Identity crisis which has gripped such a society into a no-man's land. The movie is about an effort to breakout of that 'Identity Crisis' till its too late. Songs are amazing, just reflecting the western influenced pop culture of Pakistan. Story is dramatic n has a lot of depth. The movie shows how Music can break boundaries.Although some parts also reflected some hardline religious ethos which Muslim world have not able to come out and are still evolving in that matter. Such as the interpretation of Music being 'Haraam' by one of the hardline clerics in Lahore. And also marriage outside religion which is a very big Question mark across all religions around the world. Anyways my rating is 8/10. Thumbss Up... to director and the producers for a dramatic effort.
Shaan LArock A powerful script has been an enigma to Pakistani cinema for more than two decades now. Once this industry was ruled on the basis of powerful writing but this art was long forgotten until now. Shoaib Mansoor has worked really hard on the script, though there were a couple of loose ends to the script but the captivating second half keeps you at bay from anything lacking. Shoaib Mansoor; the director, has worked with quite a few D.O.Ps for this film and it clearly shows as the continuity is broken several times but all this can be ignored, thanks to some brilliant acting by Shaan and Naseerudin Shah. Fawad and Iman has done a commendable job given that it was their first film. There were some technical glitches as well but again nothing unforgivable. The film carries a very important message about not to stereotype things and also confronts the world to the fact that Islam is not about fanaticism. A religion cannot teach terrorism and Islam is no different it only teaches you love peace and submission. Islam means submission and how can submission be violent. The film confronts many ironies about the religion and is very well scripted. A definite watch for everyone, be it Muslim, Muslim Lover or hater!
