NekoHomey Purely Joyful Movie!
TeenzTen An action-packed slog
Matrixiole Simple and well acted, it has tension enough to knot the stomach.
Jenni Devyn Worth seeing just to witness how winsome it is.
Rene Rating this film fairly is impossible, and here's why:What happened with Ink is this: One of the best Fantasy Stories ive ever experienced was filmed by a bunch of inexperienced people for no Budget, but with alot of passion. The end product is in regards to video quality even below the cheapest Asylum films (it was shot on cheap digital cameras - a look i cant stand - and then overly processed with horrendous filters), the actors are meh at best and the fight scenes are terrible as well. Here's the thing tho. I was moved by this film. Not only by its story, no. This film oozes of passion. Someone made something that is worth very much to them with this. And despite the above sounding brutally negative, i don't think i could do any of it better personally. Sure i can pick up a camera but can i frame as well as they do here? I could rehearse lines and speak them in front of a camera but would i be a better actor than any of the cast in this film? Probably not.All of that makes it hard for me to rate this film. From a technical standpoint its a disaster but does that really matter when the Story is as good as here? If as much love and care and ambition is put into a film as it is here? In this case, i don't think so. All of its flaws are a byproduct of the way it has been made. And im glad it has been made. So i rate it the only way i feel is right, without breaking it down to a technical level too much.
regulusgeoff53 The best kind of films fall out of the ether and hit you hard . They appear from nowhere and leave you marked , forever . Ink , an unknown movie , came calling at my door serendipitous while looking for something to watch tonight . Words fail me , they fall far too short in any descriptive attempts I could muster to review the movie I have just been immersed in . So I will let my frequent tears during the film speak for me . This finely crafted work played , expertly , and beneficially on my emotions. The film made my own time change its shape and it lost all meaning to me . Only the movie had movement and form . It possessed me . Rarely does this happen these days . When it does if feels as if a tiny piece of heaven has entered in to one's heart and mind . This film is powerful : in content , in story and in its writing , its visual appearance ,and in the actors performances . Great films best come without fanfare and and flashing lights . They quietly involve and bond and bind you to them like modern day alchemy.....I was hoping to be curt and concise in this revue . Alas , my heart has made slaves of my fingers and will warrant them no rest . I can recommend this movie whole-heartedly . It is a genuine , original and adsorbing piece of work . So then , open your mind and prepare your heart ..... and let it in.
nickschweiss I created an account to review this movie. I have been lurking on this site for many, many years and have never felt compelled to review a movie until now. There are so many things wrong with this movie. Some of the actors are mediocre. Some of the lines are cheesy. There are some cliché tropes. The action is bland. With all that said there are exponentially more things this film does perfectly. The pacing of the film is magnificent. The atmosphere is immersive and the director created perfect transitions between the surreal dream worlds and reality. The menacing qualities of the incubi are terrifying. The effects are extremely well done, especially for an indie movie. The editing is erratic but at the same time the continuity is perfect. This movie thoroughly obtains the all the formalist aspects of film-making. I am not a director. I am not a screenplay writer, or an actor, or a cinematographer, or anything other than a cinephile. But, I know that when making a movie, especially on a low budget, that you must choose what things you value to perfectly tell your story. This director chose all the right things. I beg whoever is reading this to watch this movie. You will not be disappointed.
crealr It's not great artistry. Low budget, poor effects, marginal acting (although some of the actors do manage to shine brightly enough at moments). While the plot may seem grasping at times, stick with it.If you can look past the artificial details you will find a beautiful and inspiring allegory that speaks deeply to something essential in the human experience. A must see for deep thinkers, as well as those who study the esoteric, who may grasp its message more fully. Also, one of the most beautiful musical scores in any movie, especially "Who You Were". That's saying something, given how low budget the film was.
