David Moody While this movie is certainly inspirational, and delivers a strong message about believing in yourself, it's a far cry from the Jem and the Holograms animated series that people who grew up in the 80's would know; had the movie been given a less familiar title it may not have drawn the level of attention it did. Of course, it wouldn't be Jem without Synergy, and finding Synergy's missing parts does make for some of the movies better moments. Jem and the Holograms' rivals The Misfits only appear very briefly at the end, but the hatred is clear, and leaves the possibility of a sequel in which the 2 bands compete both on and off the stage.

wlomjo If your a fan of the carton "Jem and the Holograms", do not see this movie! All they did was give the actors / actress's names from the cartoon, with a few little tiny nods to the cartoon. I was extremely disappointed in this movie!!!! They did not even make the main character look like Jem! They just put a pink wig on her & called her Jem! I don't know what else to say about this movie other than PLEASE DO NOT WASITE YOUR TIME & WATCH THIS MOVIE IF YOUR A FAN OF THE CARTOON!!!!If you want something truly Jem! Then get the Complete Jem cartoon serious on DVD or read the IDW Jem and the Holograms comic book, which is truly, truly, outrageous!! At least the comic keeps with the cartoon, with only a few tiny changes. As a huge Jem fan, I highly recommend the Jem and the Holograms comic book.

haydon-53329 I was unsure if I would like this movie but now that I have seen it I am in love with it. I have watched it twice in the last week and have listened to the album multiple times. This movie has made me happier than I have been in years (it is sad that more people do not like this movie). Its story may seem simple a the character development a little predictable but this is a solid movie that moves me in a positive way. I hope that the cast and crew are PROUD of this movie and hope that more people discover this gem among so many "standard" Hollywood movies that have been coming out. In short, watch this movie with an open mind and you might find yourself amazed at what you could discover.

redmaxdrive I grew up watching Jem the series in the '80's, so I did have certain expectations going into this. And while it wasn't everything I'd hoped for, there was enough of the original spirit left for me to recognize the things that I enjoyed so much about the series. There were a lot of changes to the original story, but that was to be expected, given that this movie was aimed at a new audience in a new millennium. This film has a good story with a lot of heart, some excellent music, and performers who worked hard to make this the best film they knew how to make. And at its heart, this movie has a message of inspiration, courage, strength, and perseverance for anyone who has something they want to share with the world. Like Jerrica says near the end, "We're all Jem."I heard that there might not be a follow-up and I am a little disappointed by that, since Erica's meeting with the Misfits all but promised one. Perhaps something in the made-for-cable category? Who knows? In any case, this is one film that should be viewed at least once before forming an opinion. You never know; it could be a diamond in the rough. Thank you for listening.
