Kirandeep Yoder The joyful confection is coated in a sparkly gloss, bright enough to gleam from the darkest, most cynical corners.
Wyatt There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
G K Ju-on is a haunted house one-trick pony. The story is about a social worker in Tokyo who stumbles across a haunted house and is exposed to a deadly curse. The film is a creepy but unfocused chiller, the seed of a successful franchise; there are moments of considerable dread, but the jumbled narrative allows a lot of the tension to dissipate. Ju-on was extremely popular and well received for a low-budget V-Cinema film. It has never been given an official DVD release outside of Japan, Germany and Scandinavia. It is only available outside of these certain areas by internet purchase or download.
MartianOctocretr5 This is one of those movies that proves budget isn't everything in movie-making, especially where horror films are concerned. It's a true gem of the horror genre, exploring the human psyche as part of its path to the spooky conclusion.A brutal murder of a young woman and her son by the husband and father (who is convinced of the wife's infidelity) opens the story, unleashing the curse of a malevolent evil presence which remains in the vicinity of the violent event. The lingering presence "infects" and tries to victimize, both psychologically and physically, others who visit the crime scene. The story is logically developed, breaking the stories of key characters that encounter the evil into separate chapters, with an eerie mood that is maintained throughout. The people in the story are very real and human, and the terror, helplessness, and madness of victims is acted out skillfully. The creatures are threatening yet develop to be complex characters rather than mindless killing monsters. Their back stories are gradually revealed as things unfold. The look of the beings suits the intent of the film's focus well. There are some truly scary scenes, not on a "jump out at you" basis, but more of the "implied danger creeping toward you from the darkness" variety. There is one profoundly goose-bump-inducing scene involving a security camera. Look for that one--it's a keeper. Good old style late-night ghost story, a must for horror movie fans.
robert ries This movie is the scariest one i have seen so far. I have seen it 3 times so far and it seems to be getting scarier which each time. The dark lights and the bright make-up remind me of old theater play acting. That's probably the reason why this movie seems so real: you seem to watch a stage play from the gallery rather than actually a movie from your couch. The steady involvement of the stairway up to the attic into the story is truly sophisticated and as a prop of the movie, should be at the same eye-level of Psycho's shower curtain. Ju-On gets along without protracting. Cuts, lights and scenery are perfect. All effects are simple thus again so real. Of course, Ju-On also has to be compared to it's worst rival "Ringu": I would say that Ringu has more of a plot with an enchanting ending and as well enjoys the status of being the first movie that used cursed dead children who are striving for being revealed their mysterious and ungrateful death. And although Ju-On lacks a plot and people who watch it end up with a lot of unanswered questions, the fact that makes this movie so irresistible, is that Ju-On is so absolutely scary! Definitely scarier than Ringu! As i said: the scariest so far!
Jessica Carvalho ''Ju On'' is a great movie, and after watching ''The Grudge'' I really have more respect for the Japanese version. I think this is one of the scariest movies I watched in all my life, and without showing any blood or disgusting organs like many trash films. All the story turns around the Saeki family:Takeo Saeki was jealous of his wife, Kayako, and brutally kills her and the young son, Toshio. Kayako was supposed to have an affair with another guy, and Takeo when discovered, imagined that even Toshio wasn't his son, making him to commit the horrible crime.Divided by parts each one with a different character, the story is very cool!Ps: Who was scared by that horrible sound of Kayako?
