Ensofter Overrated and overhyped
Stoutor It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.
Helloturia I have absolutely never seen anything like this movie before. You have to see this movie.
Abegail Noëlle While it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.
willowavery I totally agree with the good reviews this movie got. Killing Daddy's easily the best TV movie I've ever seen. Interesting plot, and very good acting of the main character. I love how the story is told from Callie's point of view so you relate to her even though she is the 'bad guy' (well, girl) in the story. Elizabeth Gillies', who plays Callie, acting is outstanding, she's the other reason you completely relate to Callie. Very well done. The story has a good build up and leads to a dramatic finale. It really captured me and I was really impressed both by the story as the acting. Killing Daddy is my new favorite TV movie! I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes a good psychological thriller/drama.
fiddleferme Vapid characters and acting. 2/3 through the movie I reviewed the IMDb user reviews to see why it got a 7.0 rating and only then decided to finish watching it. Characters are shallow and under developed with clichéd performances....interest in movie relies upon plot twists from left field....actually; couldn't wait for it to be over. Might appeal to the under 16 yr old crowd. Waste of bandwidth and a movie to be totally forgotten in cinematic history. :( I enjoy all sorts of low budget thrillers; but this one is a high budget non movie. I can't understand why it has a 7.0 rating here. Usually I rely on the IMDb ratings but in this case we are totally at odds.
Lobke6 When you hear "Nickelodeon's Liz Gillies" it automatically wires your brain to think "horrible acting", which is understandable if you've seen some of the shows they put on their channel. However, in this case you couldn't be more wrong. Gillies' performance is near perfection in Killing Daddy (not unlike any other of her projects i.e. Victorious and Animal). Her acting makes it all seem so real and it really makes you feel what she's feeling- as other people have mentioned in their reviews- especially near the end. Not only is the acting above exceptional, but the plot is everything I've ever dreamed to have been. Killing Daddy is like a fanfiction story come to life, but not the shitty kind like 50 Shades of Grey came to be. It's a story that everyone can become interested in because we love the sick idea of it. It's always been in our imagination, but it's finally come to life. And even better than that, the movie is realistic. While watching, you will not roll your eyes at how "cheesy" or " predictable" it is. There's nothing cheesy nor predictable about it, there were twists and turns here and there, but at the same time they weren't so drastic to make you think it's stupid. If you don't believe me, watch the movie. You won't be disappointed!
Frederique14 Killing Daddy is an intense drama about a young girl, Callie, with deep psychological problems who wants revenge for what her father did to her and her mother. It's a beautiful, intense and also a sad story, well written and very well performed. Callie is played by Elizabeth Gillies and she really has done an amazing job. It's really impressive how she manages to play a very disturbed girl in a way that makes you relate to her and feel with her. This lifts this what otherwise would be a typical lifetime movie to a different level. Gillies is able to make Callie a versatile character both strong and vulnerable, and this makes it to me her best movie so far. It shows her potential to become a very big star in the future, no doubt about that.
