StunnaKrypto Self-important, over-dramatic, uninspired.
Tockinit not horrible nor great
Ariella Broughton It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.
Kaydan Christian A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
MartinHafer "Kyun! Ho Gaya Na..." is a very low rated film on IMDb--with a current overall rating of 4.4. I would never rate the film this low, but can understand some folks' displeasure with the movie. It feels like a couple different films pieced together and the chemistry between the two leads is sometime lacking. As for the first portion of the film, it's very much what you'd expect from an Aishwarya Rai Bachchan movie--full of romance and a formula I've come to expect from her films. This formula involves a desire to choose one's mate, meeting and hating a man, falling for the man, some even that tears them apart and, ultimately, the pair meeting again and marrying. I've seen it so many times that the first half felt like a case of deja-vu.The second portion is pretty strange--with a completely different pace and setting. In this second half, Amitabh Bachchan (later for become Rai's father-in-law) is such a dominating presence that if feels more like his film. Only at the very end does the big climax come and the man (Vivek Oberoi) comes to his senses and runs to his lady love. The end. The final result is long and meandering feels much more like a hodge-podge than a coherent movie. Because of this, the film is not among my favorites in the career of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. It also has a few bad moments--such as the ridiculous fireworks scene.By the way, if you know who the chef Todd English is, look at the character Ishaan. He sure looks like an Indian version of this celebrity chef!
springsunnywinter I thought that the film would just turn out to be a love story like every other Bollywood movie e.g. a boy & girl are in love and their parents won't let them get married because one of them is rich and the other is poor but it turned out to be so different and interesting about a boy who believes in arrange marriage and a girl who believes in love marriage. The movie was so peaceful & heartfelt, it was about 3 hours and didn't seem that long and I really liked Amitabh Bachchan in the second half he was a very nice funny guy. I don't like most of Aishwarya Rai's films but Kyon! ho gaya na is her best film. Songs are terrific each song is better than the other and the soundtrack of the movie is one of my favourite in my CD collection. Overall it's a very beautiful film for all ages and it took love stories to a new level.
Sherazade I don't understand what all the hate was about this film. It was as hated by the general public in India as Gigli was hated here in the US. I think that's sad for everyone who felt that way because I truly loved and enjoyed the film. You cannot judge the merit of a film by the current celebrity gossip status of the actors in it, and I think that's what most people did with this and Gigli. Get over yourselves! Kyun..Ho Gaya Na, is a beautiful film about a boy who does not believe in love, and the girl who comes along and unwittingly debunks his philosophy. Aishwarya Rai plays Diya, a beautiful college girl from the country side who comes to Mumbai to study for an upcoming statewide exam. While there, she becomes the guest at the house of our philosopher Arjun (played by Vivek Oberoi), and quickly finds herself falling in love with him. But Arjun, ever the joker, never runs out of pranks to play on Diya and eventually plays the ultimate prank on her that sets her on fire, in the heat of all of this she admits that she loves him and immediately his attitude changes towards her. Stunned, Frightened and ultimately disappointed by his reaction to her, she runs from Mumbai before sunrise the next day. Arjun awakes to find that she is gone and pursues her, only to meet up with her again and continue with an edited version of pranks he'd earlier played on her. He is threatened when an old flame (Played by Suniel Shetty) returns to town and Diya begins to show him affection. Will Arjun finally realise that he loves Diya before it's too late? Kyun...Ho Gaya Na! Amitabh Bachchan, Om Puri, Suniel Shetty and Diya Mirza all add pure delight to the film as its wonderful supporting cast.
