Worth seeing just to witness how winsome it is.

There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

I bought this movie under the assumption that it might be a zombie comedy that had something to offer. And especially since there has been a couple of very noteworthy zombie movies rearing its decaying head from Australia, New Zealand and that general area. However, I managed to get only 30 minutes into "Last of the Living" before I had to give up entirely and find something else to watch. This movie failed to captivate me and failed to grasp my interest in the most horrible way. The movie was just so uninspiring and anything but interesting. The 30 minutes that I watched offered no comedy, very little action in terms of zombies and the stuff usually Associated with the zombie genre. Though the characters did seem to have been thoroughly thought through and given stories. But it just wasn't enough to keep me interested. And from what I saw of zombies in the 30 minutes, then the zombies were nothing more than low-budget zombies. You know, the type where the faces are powdered a grayish color and blackened around the eyes. I saw no special effects or anything that would usually be much welcomed in the zombie genre in terms of make-up and special effects. If you are looking for a zombie comedy, then your money, time and effort are better spent on movies such as "Shaun of the Dead" or "Dead Alive", to mention but two of the more established movies in the zombie genre.I have no plans to make a return trip to "Last of the Living" in order to finish watching it. No, it just didn't appeal to me in any way. So this movie will now quietly fade into oblivion on the shelves of the movie collection.

What a fun movie to watch. Similar in tone to Zombieland, although different story and characters, still similar in tone. Three slackers (a geek, a cool guy, and a rock&roller) are living as couch potatoes during the apocalypse. No explanation of how they survived, but zombies movies don't need explanations for everything. They're hanging out in house to house, watching dvds, playing video games, raiding the grocery store and music store, etc., killing zombies as they run into them. Then it's time to meet a hot chick scientist working on a cure*, so the guys can try to impress her.The characters and dialog are quirky, which really makes a good zombie for me. The effects were low budget, but still good, with some good fight scenes and gore. They used POV from the zombie being killed a few times, which makes it possible to not have to use any special effects, you just see the baseball bat, golf club and such coming down at you. Nice effect of leaving some of the gruesomeness to your imagination. As with ALL zombie movies, there are borrowed ideas from other movies. In a zombie movie, it's not about what you do, but HOW you do it. And they did well.SPOILER-I do have one complaint, however.....zombies that move slow for the entire movie, suddenly move fast at the end of the movie....uh, why? somethings should be explained, and that isn't. They needed the zombies to move fast in order for a scene to be thrilling, OK, i get that. But some kind of explanation would be good.*(many zombie movies work on finding a cure, after all, it's impossible for everyone to not eventually get bit, so a cure would be good to prevent the disease from taking over everyone-of course you can't help those already infected unless they're still in good condition maybe)

I grabbed this movie off the shelf because of the kick ass cover art. It gave the movie a quality look but it no more into a minute of the first scene of the "couch potatoes" and it was evident this movie was filmed on a home video camera. It's strange how they actually had decent sound design on the one hand but on the other hand I feel like they just used the built in mic on their mini-DV cam to capture all the dialog. I'm an American, and while I thoroughly enjoy foreign film, the New Zealand accents were so thick it was, at times, difficult to understand the characters. As far as a zombie flick goes, this movie brought nothing new to the table and seemed like some dudes just copying zombie movies they've seen before. The zombies weren't scary and easy defeated with...a golf club? Things I did like: the heroine was cute and their car was pretty bad ass. It's too bad they didn't film the entire movie the same way they filmed the ending music video...it actually had some quality. Don't let the statement on the cover about being better than Shaun of the Dead fool you. This movie is not even close to the same class in quality, plot or humor as Shaun of the Dead.

Wow... So this film was so boring. I rented it because it looked like it would be up the same alley as Shawn of the Dead, but aside from zombies and jokes they are in NO way comparable. The production values were low enough to be a distraction for one. The acting was lame for two. The story was boring for three.. ugh! I spent five bucks to rent this film and I feel totally cheated. If I had ANYTHING else to do, I never would have finished it. I was happy when the credits rolled.Okay, I've ranted I feel better. So why a 3 star not a 1? It's not the worst movie I've ever seen. Also, there were on very seldom occasions a few laughs. Mostly the movie was just laughable though.DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME.
