This is How Movies Should Be Made
StunnaKrypto
Self-important, over-dramatic, uninspired.

It's a mild crowd pleaser for people who are exhausted by blockbusters.

It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

This is the weakest film in the Lethal Weapon franchise but that doesn't mean it's bad. Mel Gibson and Danny Glover still have the chemistry and there is some good humor and drama. Joe Pesci is good as usual but he looks ridiculous with blonde hair. This movie introduced the character played by Rene Russo and she and Mel Gibson have fantastic chemistry. They work really well together in these films and Ransom. The series in general does not have the most memorable villains but the villain in this film is by far the weakest. Also this movie has the worst opening of the entire franchise. The first film began with a suicide. The second began with a car chase. The fourth began with Riggs and Murtaugh trying to stop a madman dressed in what looked like Tony Stark's first Iron Man suit. This movie begins with Riggs and Murtaugh trying to stop a bomb from going off and a cat shows up and it's just ridiculous. That could have worked as an individual scene in the movie like the toilet scene in Lethal Weapon 2 but not as the opening scene. Don't make the same mistake Lethal Weapon 5. I guess the opening credits beforehand made up for there not being a terrific opening scene. As I said this movie is not as good as the other three films but it's still pretty good. It has one of the best songs used in the franchise: Runaway Train by Elton John and Eric Clapton.

LETHAL WEAPON 3 suffers from being the weakest film in the series, but that's really only because the other three are so good that they make this one inferior by comparison. It still marks a hugely entertaining piece of Hollywood entertainment, slicker than the first two with more of a '90s vibe, but plenty of incident to see it through. This time around, Riggs and Murtaugh are on the trail of a former cop and gun runner. There are big explosive set-pieces, lots of humour at the expensive of our heroes, and a little male bonding. I don't like Rene Russo much and she gets a lot of screen time as a tough internal affairs cop who is supposed to be some real bad ass, although that didn't convince me. Stuart Wilson's villain is also quite weak and lacking in presence. The good news is that Joe Pesci is back and as funny as ever, livening things up whenever he appears. Gibson and Glover are both as sharp as ever and have settled well into their roles without ever feeling that they're phoning it in; they both work hard to bring a lot of energy to their parts. The film is well directed with some solid action scenes that have a John Woo vibe to them with lots of large-scale shoot-outs; the subway bit and the burning climax are real highlights here.

Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover) has 8 days left before retirement, and Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson) recklessly goes into a building with a bomb. Riggs sets off the bomb, and brings down the building. They're kicked down to patrolmen. They catch an armor truck robber who turns out to be using armor piercing bullets which leads to a former cop gun runner. Internal affairs Lorna Cole (Rene Russo) is also interested in the case. Joe Pesci returns with a smaller role.Rene Russo is a good addition. She and Mel have a great scene comparing scars. She looks good fighting although the stunt girl doesn't have the same look. The problem is that it starts stupidly. It made no sense that Riggs goes into that building for no reason. I think they should have just started with the armor truck robbery. Or they should think of a better way to incorporate the building implosion. It's weaker than the first 2. It's getting a little old. Maybe they're getting too old for this sht.

Every time I think about Lethal Weapon I remember the intro that was presented in this film. I have seen many films in my days with many intros that can be classified as classic. The one I very much remember is the one in the 2012 film Django Unchanged."Spoiler Alert" Back to this classic intro, it is not every time that you watch a movie and the lead actors who are intended to be the heroes in the movie actually brought down a building instead of just waiting for the bomb squad to do their job.Rene Russo's introduction in the movie is well received and it was nice to see another person swing legs and do some fighting instead of just Mel alone. Richard Donner kept Joe Pesci on the cast (who although in the original script was not part of the cast) which I also very much enjoyed seeing Leo Getz run his mouth non-stop. Lethal Weapon 3 to me was more comic filled than any of the others and to me from 1 to 3 it seemed all planned out. Lethal Weapon 4 seemed a little off and more like a lets cash in some more. This movie's plot has our two heroes demoted to walk the street and these guys were so chaotic at the job that it seemed safer keeping them as detectives. In this flick the villain is bold, intelligent and merciless he was a former L.A.P.D. Lieutenant named Jack Edward Travis (Stuart Wilson). Travis is an arms dealer who was running things smoothly till some of his men decided to do something stupid
, they committed a crime while Murtaugh and Riggs were on the scene. While the investigation was going on, the duo met Lorna Cole (Rene Russo) from internal affairs she is tough smart and happen to be the only woman in the whole series who could handle Riggs. Now the duo now turned trio went all out to bring Travis down.Lethal Weapon 3 was also a commercial success but was received with mixed reviews; again the score was done by the trio Michael Kamen, Eric Clapton, and David Sanborn who also worked on the previous two films. This is my third favorite in the series, but the intro is my top best. Richard Donner did a great job with this characters created by Shane Black, and I just have to give him kudos because this series is one that too me should be left where it is and a remake should not be done or a continuation, as we saw in Die Hard 5, if you drag it you wreck it.www.lagsreviews.com
