ScoobyWell Great visuals, story delivers no surprises
KnotStronger This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.
Ezmae Chang This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
Quiet Muffin This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.
TheLittleSongbird Not one of the very best Little Audrey cartoons ('Song of the Birds' is my favourite), but 'Little Audrey Riding Hood' is a clever take on a often parodied story in animation. The story is one of the more eventful and less predictable ones of the Little Audrey cartoons, which tend to be quite slight. There are some very clever modern touches that could easily have been clumsy but are very nicely executed. These ideas will delight children, and should hold interest for adults. As for Little Audrey herself, she an adorable and charming character that falls on the right side of sweet thankfully.Furthermore, the animation is rich and colourful, with very meticulous and beautifully drawn backgrounds and well-rendered character designs that don't look too stiff. Winston Sharples provides yet another outstanding music score, even in mediocre or worse cartoons Sharples' music was never among the flaws (if anything always one of the strengths or the best asset). Also love the lusciousness of the orchestration here and how characterful and whimsical the music was without going overboard in either, even better was how well it fitted in the cartoon and how it merged with the action. The main song is very infectious too.Everything here has the right amount of sweetness without being too sugary or making one queasy with sickness, and while the gags are never hilarious they are mostly amusing and are never rushed or sluggish. The voice acting is good.In conclusion, very strong cartoon but just misses out as one of the very best of Little Audrey. 8/10 Bethany Cox
boblipton I am uncertain of how to appraise this modernized version of the classic fairy tale, "Little Red Riding Hood". The bits that are modernized -- grandma lives down the roads a piece in a nice Victorian house, not a cottage in the middle of the woods and Audrey takes the bus to get there -- are nicely thought out. Likewise, the gag sequences are nicely conceived and executed. However, I also think that animation should be about something that couldn't be done live, and none of the gags here were beyond the capabilities of the movie camera at this point.Still, finding a child star acting in short subjects at this point who could star in this.... well, that's a real issue. So I'll give this one the benefit of the doubt. Meanwhile, I wonder why Famous Studios dropped its "Little Audrey" theme in favor of the more generic "Noveltoons", intended for one shots....
