daylinb Sure, its no masterpiece but then its a Lifetime movie so really not intended to be. I definitely didn't think it was the disaster the IMDb reviews made me expect, either. There's no question, Lindsay Lohan really doesn't bring Liz Taylor to mind for anyone who is familiar with Liz. As many other reviewers have commented, it doesn't seem as if Lindsay even attempted to recreate Elizabeth's unique speech and a passable imitation likely would have made the portrayal of Elizabeth significantly better. If Lindsay's performance was considered for quality of acting alone, without any consideration of her likeness to Liz, it wasn't bad. I didn't focus on comparing Lindsay to Liz and I enjoyed the story for what it was. The last 15 minutes of the movie did feel just a bit rushed, I thought, even still, contrary to what I've read in other reviews I thought the story was well told and the characters well developed. I'm surprised the script and dialogue are being so harshly criticized - I have certainly seen much, much worse. If you're looking to spend 90 enjoyable minutes with something that doesn't require too much thinking I don't think this film will disappoint. A dramatic story of a tumultuous romance, set against the backdrop of the glamorous 60's Hollywood lifestyle.

utgard14 It's hard to believe that just a decade or so ago Lindsay Lohan was the next big thing, praised for her acting and screen presence by critics and acting vets alike. Obviously a lot has happened in the ensuing years that has dimmed that light. Quite frankly, watching her now is painful. She's a mess. Her once-promising talent is lost. Physically, she's no comparison to Elizabeth Taylor. Taylor was a striking full-figured beauty. Lohan is a pale waif with lip injections. Beyond the physical, Taylor was a great actress. Lohan, as this movie proves, is not.Aside from the curiosity factor of watching the terrible Lohan, the movie has nothing else to recommend. As others have pointed out, Grant Bowler does a good job mimicking Richard Burton's voice. But his performance is nothing special beyond that. The script is hackneyed and tedious. The direction is lackluster and very much what you would expect from a movie made for Lifetime. Just avoid this at all costs unless your curiosity about the human trainwreck Lindsay Lohan gets the best of you.

MissSimonetta I'm exhausted from watching this trash so here's my honest opinion: 1) Lindsay Lohan does not work as Liz Taylor. Her gravelly voice is nothing like Taylor's, her delivery is lifeless, and she sleepwalks clumsily through the role. She comes across as a teenage girl playing dress up rather than an actress inhibiting a role.2)I'll give Grant Bowler points for putting forth effort and actually acting.3) The script is an episodic mess, with Lohan and Bowler drinking, arguing, and having sex ad nauseum. The writers paint Taylor and Burton as overgrown brats, obsessed with themselves so much that it's hard to believe they love each other at all. The relationship here seems based on lust more than any spiritual or emotional connection. Even if that was intended by the writers (which I doubt considering the sentimental epilogue), it's still done badly.4) Taylor and Burton's romance deserves better. This is a pathetic soap opera. Skip.

I grew up watching Elizabeth Taylor, and was hopeful that this movie might have been at least watchable.Honestly I found myself stalking the scene ends, and wondering how they had managed to allow this to happen. Truly it makes me wonder if Lohan has even seen an Elizabeth Taylor movie?There is a lack of effortlessness that, to me at least, Elizabeth (even in the face of her worst turmoils) conveyed in all of her movies. It's almost as if Lohan focused on the wrong angles of what made Elizabeth one in a million. Yes she had her problems, but she said herself: "Pour yourself a drink, put on some lipstick, and pull yourself together." I think Lohan forgot the pulling yourself together part.
