Curapedi I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.
PiraBit if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.
InformationRap This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
Frances Chung Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
cartoonheart45 What a wonderful movie. It was powerful and inspiring. It's obvious that the director did his best. The actors, the script and the places are very pleasant. The ending was a little expected from my part but I loved the flash-back scenes, the chemistry between the two main actors, very sincere and simple performance. I was overwhelmed by the charismatic presence of Mehmet Günsür, really great actor, now I'm really found of him. I didn't like him this much in Muhtesem Yuzyil. Usually I don't like this kinda of movies but this one was very breathtaking. Now I have an increased appetite for more Turkish movies experiences.
andrejakc-1 Brilliant movie, fantastic script with amazing performances. I have to admit that I was a bit sceptical with the poster, trailer and Turkish pop music. But from the opening scenes of 2 little newborns and their evolution trough life and photography and coincidences, this is simply just a brilliant piece of movie making.Full stop. All this is told trough amazing set pieces and I must admit that Ankara and Istanbul look stunning. There are occasional sugar-sweet moments but the line where dad explains to son that his life is in-between limited borders, but what he does in-between those borders is what really matters stayed with me. The coincidences, the photographic memories which were lost and found and ultimately re-united and the whole story telling is just simply excellent. The summary about Love Story (great ending) meets Amelie ( with all the different locations) Turkish way just gives you a small hint what kind of movie this is. American re-make must be on the way, which probably will be much worse, so until then please check out this movie wherever you can because you will not be disappointed.
kayabay I watched the movie "Ask Tesadüfleri Sever" - "Love Likes Coincidences" tonight the 11th of February 2011, and loved it by all means... In a movie, if you don't believe in a few coincidences, it is one thing, but in this movie, the story telling is a musical coincidences symphony in which two parallel lives, a love and the people circling around are successfully portrayed.Ömer Faruk Sorak is a powerful director who makes the spectator find a place for him/herself a place in the story. He just finds the tempo and lets the river flow... Mehmet Günsür & Belçim Bilgin as the two main characters just fit in too... Especially Mehmet Günsür with his performance and charisma gives the movie the energy it needs. I'd like to congratulate Gökçe Doruk Erten as the director of casting too.. Since the movie covers a story of two people from their ages 7-10 up to end of 20's it is actually difficult to cast a continuum and that was done superb. In many successful American movies you sometimes get shocked by the casting of characters by different actors in such a long and evoluting piece of time. Also an Oscar goes to Ipek Sorak who has created a perfect symphony of coincidences that lead to a touching love with her concept & story. Thanks for all the efforts, I can say "Ask Tesadüfleri Sever" is the best Turkish movie I've watched for the last few years.
Salvo Ciccia I saw this movie yesterday in London. The main pleasure I took from it was to see that Mehmet Günsür has become a very good actor.I have seen him last time in an Ozpetek's movie called "Hamam-The Turkish bath" in 1997, he was very young at that time, but I remember he showed a very good performance even there in a supporter role (Alessandro Gassman was the lead character).Going back to Ask Tesadufleri Sever, the translation of the title in English should be "Love likes coincidences" and I must say the writers went a little bit too far with the coincidences stuff making the plot too unrealistic and sometimes ridicule. And that is a shame because the good acting (Günsür, Yigit Özsener and the actress who plays Günsür mother) and the beautiful locations of both Ankara and Istanbul could make this movie a little pearl to compete with international titles.Worthy to be watched for the good acting and for Ankara's and Istanbul's views, but be prepared to the disappointing and sometime painful script.
